Live on Statik's ShowOff Radio show, last night on Shade45.

i know alot of DJs have been doing Guru tributes... which is dope, but this is 2 hours of music... from 1988, thru his history including Jazzmattazz Vol 1-3, to the end of the Gangstarr days. I covered what i feel was truly Gurus greatest work. this includes unreleased music, the b-sides, remixes, etc. i also had Big Shug, Doo-Wop, Freddie Foxx, Consequence, and Chubby Chub call in and leave some Guru Memories. he was an icon to me, as well as a friend, and i definitely wouldn't be who i am without the presence of Gangstarr's music in my life growing up.

    Gangstarr is what he is known from his solo projects were trash?

    REALLY!!! Tons of hip hop enthusiasts believe Jazzmatazz was ground breaking for successfully blending jazz with hip hop. I loved the albums, and even the newer ones, I thought the track with Common was riidculously dope.

    This isnt about Gangstarr this is about Guru. There is no Gangstarr without Guru. Its evident to me that six you are not a true Guru fan but merely someone who caught wind of DJ Premier production with someone rhyming on it.

    RIP Guru

    for the record, Statik Selektah > your DJ

    @Unxpekted,
    it obvious homie don't know what the fuck he's talking about !! Those Jazzmatazz cd's put his foot in the ass of every emcee who tried and followed suite to what he did. Guru is one of the best. Preemo and Guru complimented eachother. No one was better than the other.

  • MF CHEF
