I’VE BEEN ASKED TO COMMENT ON A LETTER SPEAKING ILL OF ME WHICH WAS SUPPOSEDLY WRITTEN BY GURU IN HIS DYING DAYS. ALL I WILL SAY ABOUT IT IS THAT OUR TIME TOGETHER WAS BEAUTIFUL, WE BUILT A HIP HOP LEGACY TOGETHER, AND NO ONE CAN RE-WRITE HISTORY OR TAKE AWAY MY LOVE FOR HIM. ONE THING I WOULD NEVER DO IS PLAY AROUND WITH THE TRUTH ABOUT HIS LIFE.
I WILL CELEBRATE GURU’S LIFE… I WILL HONOR HIS MEMORY… I WILL GRIEVE WITH THE ELAM FAMILY OVER HIS UNTIMELY DEATH… I WILL REMEMBER THE GANG STARR FOUNDATION AND ALL OF THE ORIGINAL MEMBERS OF GANG STARR WHO CAME BEFORE ME – WE ALL KNOW EACH OTHER… MOSTLY, I WILL CHERISH EVERYTHING WE CREATED TOGETHER AS GANG STARR, FOREVER. I think an actual/believable letter from Preem would start with something like, ‘I DJ Premier, sole proprietor and inventor of the word “Gang Starr, being of sound mind and body….’ before going into some random diatribe over how much he loves some other dude who has nothing to do with anything that anybody gives a shit about and their alleged accomplishments together and how they stood tall in the face of adversity as a single body for 6 or so paragraphs, and then conclude with some bitter words for everyone other than his offspring and said random nobody. And he should be threatening to take legal action against anybody attempting to mourn the loss of Guru without the expressed written consent of Guru’s lawyers.
This shit just seems too sincere and respectful. I’m not buying it. Keep your head up Solar. We’re all grieving over your loss, boo boo.
