If you want to blame someone, blame the Seattle Starbucks owner Howard Schultz who sold the team to Clay Bennett in 2007. Then blame the city, too. Both Schultz & Bennett were unhappy with Key Arena, but the city wanted to hold the Sonics to the agreement, which called for the team to play at Key Arena through the 2009-10. Bennett said the team lost $17 million in the year before they moved because of the lease.
