Raekwon – Jolly Ranchers (prod. Alchemist)

New Shallah rocking over a body-rocking beat produced by Alchemist. Boom-bap breakbeats ftw. Props to X on the premiere.

  3. Yes, that break is Billy Squire’s Big Beat.

  4. “they tryna see if dizzee stays tru to the grammer”

  5. That ain’t Alchemist, that’s Ratatat – Dizee Rascal Remix, FUCK THAT. I saved this shit as Raekwon – Jolly Ranchers (Prod. Ratatat).mp3

Bad decision by the Alchemist, or this is mislabeled.

  6. Who did what beat or sampled who aside, I say throw Ghost and Meth on this and start a better Wu-Massacre from scratch.

  7. yea..WTF? dudes DO listen to Dizee Rascal lol

  8. Trainers buy the truck load Trainers by the Ton..Dizzee Diz..

Yo the main beat is from “The Big Beat” by rock musician Billy Squier. The song is sampled in Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip’s song “Fixed”. The song is also featured in the video game “DJ Hero” in multiple remixes. This song was remixed by Ratatat and was featured on their Ratatat Remixes Vol. 1 mixtape.

    Alchemist is just fliping breaks.

  9. i wish they rae didn’t make that half-ass wu-massacre. SMH
looks like they took more time making the covers than the songs.

  10. When the hammer hits yahh head split like bananna! Dizzee is ill you get me? Haha nice from Rae though!

  11. It’s a breakbest. To quote 9th/Pete Rock, “Don’t nobody own no loops in hip-hop!”

  30. yeah, don’t try and call this loop dizzee’s. mad heads used it before and producers are gonna keep choppin up those drums. 99 problems is the first that pops into my head…or pretty much any rick rubin def jam cut.

my question….is this part of some chef/alc collabo? that wallys and pringles song fades out to big beat/jolly ranchers and this fades out to otis. mixtape coming? or am i laaaaaaate on this isht?

  32. bushytop<<dizzee used the loop years before 99 problems. but loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooads of producers used it wayy before dizzee . its been done.

    this song is dope !

  33. @ billy clints…
whole point of what i was saying is that it belongs to no one and definitely not trying to say that anyone in particular did it first (especially not those two cuts). some loops are a bit more identified with certain beats, but drums are a whole different beast.
and i might be tripping but “years” might be a bit off. pretty sure jay’s and diz’s albums were released months apart.

  34. I post the Lupe/BOB link post yesterday and now it’s gone… lol

  35. bushytop <<yea i get u

  36. “Here we go” was from ’83. Run DMC will always own the break.

“rhymes so great rhymes rhymes galore. Rhymes that you never even heard before. And if you say you heard my rhyme, we gonna havta fight, cause I just made the motherfuckers up last night! (crowd goes nuts) -DJ Run. Super Ill.
