Nas & Damian Marley – The Promised Land f. Dennis Brown

I guess after all the questions about his beat-selecting abilities has finally convinced Nas to either a: be more thorough with his beat-picking or b: he handed the reigns over to Damian for this entire project. Whatever the case is, this track, like the others, goes.

  23. @SkoodaChose SNAPPED on this “Blackout” http://www.fakeshoredrive.com/2010/04/video-skooda-chose-blackout.html <hottest mc in the game

  24. If yall dnt kno bout damian marley check out his song Khaki Suit,,,that niggas flow is fuckin ridiculous on there

  25. marley murdered this

  26. Nas>>>>

  27. Incredible.

And Meka, as a hip hop head and contributor to the site (aka Shake’s weed carrier), I’m surprised you continue to nitpick Nas’ beat selection and overlook the fact that he’s one of the greatest lyricists and MC’s in the history of the game.

  28. yea yea im a lil wayne dick rider… im just kidding niggaz dont get yo panties in a bunch

  29. Marley > Nas

    (On this track)

    ^^^

Hell No… That 1st verse was less than to be desired… He did a bar for bar geography comparison for a whole verse…

Nas >>> Jr. Gong on this song

  30. First off, I choose b. Secondly, this is pretty dope. The beat is vibin music and the lyricism is on point.

  31. Well Damian is producing the entire project as far as I’m aware so B.

But all these tracks fuckin go, not a huge reggae fan but the vibe for this shit is crazy. Really feeling everything so far.

  32. tough..nas is the goat hands down..flow voice delivery and lyrics

  33. Holy shit.

  34. Nice relax, chill type of music by nas and marley, just perfect for the summer.

  35. drop the album already

  36. I’m too surprised that this site keeps on criticizing Nas’s beat selection even though Nas’s last 3 album have been highly praised in terms of album ratings.

  37. best track out of the leaks so far

  38. stfu Meka

  39. would someone be kind enough to post damnians lyrics? ty!

  40. Ant used the same sample on an Atmosphere track, dope nonetheless. Distant Relatives is gonna be sick.

  42. Lotta ignorance on this blog, especially who ever posted this up saying Nas needs to “be more thorough with his beat-picking”. This album is a project, not something that you play in the club and pour champagne on woman with. Gotta look at the deeper meanings of music, man. Nas + Damian Marley are here to make “MUSIC”.

  43. Damn I thought the only reason to make music was to play it in the club and pour champagne on woman. Dope song!

  44. this is was fire..pure unadulterated raw ferocious fire. Nas verse was great..downplayin him on this song n sayin “damien>nas” is not needed..go back n listen verse for verse wat nas said honestly.

lol@the pouring champagne on a woman line comment lolz..i need to try that sum time.kiddin.

    nas>jay z? rite now?

  45. ^don’t ruin the thread with Nas/Jay-Z talk

  46. and just for the record Meka have u not forgiven Nas becasue of the nastradamus album and or i am album? is that what did it?

  47. #

^don’t ruin the thread with Nas/Jay-Z talk

Bill Fienberg from the Sticks said this on April 16th, 2010 at 2:37 pm
<< lol . cant bill reflect on where nas has come to in his journey in the game? this tune made me think about it cause nas did reinvent himself i felt again with this collabo album which is a big feat considering howmany albums hes had. either way u shud smoke one.

  48. @runner Yes! This is crazy, and only Damian could have pulled off sampling the Prince of Reggae’s vocals. Tough. Gong.

  49. YO…Atmosphere used this sample…on ‘Less One”

    this is dope all around.

  50. it seems everybody wants Wayne on a track as if it causes mass controversy and CD’s to fly off the shelves

  51. yea man

ditant relatives might actually be the 2nd classic nas has been looking for.
    …………………..

    LMAO

Album no. 1, 2, 5, 6 and Lost Tapes was all Classic my friend.

and stfu about his best selection. thank god he dont have those southern frooty loopes beats with drums at 120 bps. and hes not guru, so stop asking for premo 24/7, his beats r just fine.

  52. Nas is dope but i’m not really feeling Damian on this track. I hope they have more hip-hop-like instrumentals on the album. I want a few Jamican instruments but not an entire album full of them. Either way, I’ll still probably end up buying Distant Relatives to support Nas.

  53. this is perfect for the summer!!
fat spliffs and cold red stripe!!

  54. this song definatley has more of a reggae feel to it than hip-hop. [not a bad thing obviously bcause reggae is sick] Gonna be a dope album

  55. Nas and Damian the Best of Both Worlds!!!

  56. gunna be sickkkk.. nice track

  57. Sick in the headpiece

  58. being a huge fan of dub this shit has double the potency. god damn this is hot.

  59. dope

  60. This comment is Testing Bandcamp’s stat tracking: http://x-mass.bandcamp.com

  61. gonna purchase this the day it drops. for 2 reasons.
    1) i’m a supporter of real hip-hop
    2) a portion of the money is being donated to building schools in Africa

  62. yo this is just classic reggae production. the sample was first done (if im not mistaken) by aswad and was featured in the movie ‘Countryman’

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txfdqnNEGnw

and it’s also not the first time damian has used it. he did a track earlier this year called ‘violence in the streets’ with his brother julian that samples it, too.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNZvP2iDlqg

  63. id it aint classic.. one day well probly regard it as such

  64. guys, Im not from the US and the download is not workin for me can you re upload it please? thx

  65. IRIE MAN DEM, WE BE JAMMIN PON DE SENSI, IGHER THAN A KITE BOI YA DUN NO, BO

  66. If god produced music and his son rapped this would be the perfect tune to show that!! lol

  67. not downloading? neither links..

  68. ^^^^nevermind

  69. Damn I’m sleeping on this for some reason

  70. Cant wait for this album.

BTW Gods Son is a classic album. My personal favorite from NaS.

  71. Sounds like a soundtrack for this summer.

    Too sweet sounds.

  72. “Ant used the same sample on an Atmosphere track”
This IS the atmosphere track, just with reggae chords and a few more effects. I don’t really know how I feel about that…

    look up “less one”
