Common – Syracuse University Freestyle (Video)

While speaking at the home of the Orangemen, Common asked the audience to yell out a word, which would be heaven. He then proceeded to do an actual freestyle off that word. Props to Amajanese.

  5. can hardly hear anything.. heard something about Wes Johnson

  6. i was there he wasnt freestyleing he was reading it off his i pad

  7. He was real nice when he came to Cuse, he talked about finding your passion and your voice, shit was (2)dope. His poetry at the end was really insane. Someone needs to post that.

  8. commons in my top 10 maybe even top 5

  9. common fell the fuck off with UMC, but he said his next album is gonna be all kanye west and No ID produced so i expect hot shit on his next album, im hoping for a premo track

  10. cant wait for next album. common said he’s going back to the boom bap

  11. get out of here with that Common fell off bullshit. UMC was insane. He drew inspiration from Afrika Bambaataa, and brought his music in a different direction. The sign of a true artist is versatility and being able to make different sorts of music.

  12. First Of all I agree with Joey D. I think too many listeners are hypocritical we say we won’t creativity but claim an artist fell off because of an album in the same effort. In respect to this video the audio was off so I couldn’t hear too well and Common is an awesome “freestylist” he wouldn’t read from his notepad

  13. that freestyle is weak……..i could spit better using heaven off the top

  14. These Hip Hop purist kill me common comes out with 1 album that sounds different from his last UMC and everybody starts hatin him saying he fell off!? But watch the same people who are hating him will be the same assholes talking about when his new album drops how hes always been in there top 5 and how he never fell off LOL. They did the same shit with Kanya 808 came out and so did all the hip hop purists but when his new shit drops all these idiots will praise him again. Shits Ridicules LOL. PEACE!!

  15. word to joey d. UMC was dope

  16. i was there, it was a nice freestlye cause he dropped a lot of local references that you outta towners wont catch.

  17. he did the same thing at UMiami… dropped a lot of local references, really got the crowd going… something to think about on the bus ride into town for him probably

  18. umc was not dope calm the fuck down umc and that circus album is both on the same boat u will never remeber it

  19. @fulltimeboss-thats why u got a deal huh?
some of you people need to stop checking this blog, coz all you do is hate.

  20. Obviously, it’s being remembered.

  21. Fuck

    That.

UMC was akin two a hour shit in a crowded club when you have to go. That shit was just plain uncomfortable to deal with yo. AND it was wack.

  22. yea i was there too, as soon as i saw this posted I laughed. I was yelling out Boeheim…it was cool he at least threw it in there regardless.

  23. I aint saying he fell off… but UMC wasnt good. He obviously spent about 10 mintues making each song. Versatility is good, but being able to make shitty albums along with the good ones does not count as a different type of music, making him “versatile”
