Agreed. She typically gets no recognition, but when someone copies or as some would say get “inspired” by her….it then gets accepted by said person. Video’s creative, but as sound wise, it’s ok.

First off, what’s with all the Kelis HATE??? Far as I know the only people involved in their marriage were Nas and Kelis. The only person that should be feeling any negative fallout from the divorce is Knight. Nas and Kelis are two full-grown adults who should, by now, be mature enough to deal with the consequences or rewards of what they both did or didn’t do for the benefit or detriment of their marriage. For whatever reason things didn’t work out and they are now divorced. Things happen. That’s life. Get over it!
Also in divorce/support settlements, what is decided by the judge is determnined by what what was already present in the marriage. Apparently, Kelis (and presumably Knight also) were living a certain lifestyle that afforded then certain things. The judge just made it official that Kelis would continue to live that lifestyle until she is able to get on her feet post the divorce. The judge took into account that she was pregnant and would soon have a newborn to look after as well as her established career and her desire to resume it. Most career women take paid time off after the birth of their children. All that takes money. Medical bills/insurance, nannies, housing, utilities, transportation, miscellaneous, etc. This is what Nas would have paid if they had remained married whether it been directly or indirectly.
I’m happy tho that Kelis and Nas tried to do the right thing. There are way too many black women that can say that they’re mothers, but can’t say that they’re wives. Too many black women are heading up single parent homes and when they aren’t, many of the women in those households are the main (or only) breadwinners. In the overwhelming majority of two-parent households, the women are forced, by default, into doing the overwhelming majority of domestic work, including child rearing, even if they work full-time outside the home, regardless of educational level, social status, or professional seniority level. If given the choice, most women would rather have the task of working outside the home than working inside the home doing the unpaid, thankless, mundane, tireless, highly stressful work of domestic chores and child-rearing. Also, the task of raising children robs women of professional opportunities that childless women (or women with adult, self-sufficient children) take advantage of such as post-secondary/graduate education, various career possibilities, and the freedom to fully and tirelessly pursue your goals and ambitions unencumbered, and to make adequate contributions to retirement savings/investments. Add to that the cost of raising children. Many women find themselves in a financial trap where they pay for daycare so that they may work, only to work so that they may pay for daycare. MSN Money puts the cost of stay-at-home moms, who raise one child, to be $1 Million dollars (“Cost of being a stay-at-home mom: $1 million”) over their lifetime. Most women have more than one child. Children are time consuming and expensive to raise so someone has the bear the cost of raising a physically, emotionally and socially healthy and adept, and intelligent child who will grow up to become self-sufficient and spawn more of the same. There’s far, far too many of the opposite walking amongst us already. There’s much, more to raising a child than stopping by one’s house to “see” them, talking to them on the phone, spending every other weekend or some other casual/part-time commitment. Children are children full-time. They need full-time commitments from both parents. If money helps the situation, then so be it. Better to have a full-time nanny on hand to 24/7 to fill the gaps, than to have a TV set on 24/7 filling the gaps in their minds, hearts and souls. Since the divorce settlement most likely included money for nannies, education, insurance and lifestyle, then that’s money well-spent. If the Bible says to love your neighbor as you love yourself, then surely a man should be able to love his own offspring as he loves himself also. If dad is living a certain lifestyle, then son (or daughter) should be doing the same, or better. If that’s not something that a man is willing to do, then he should invest in a vasectomy. Better that than spawning more physically unhealthy, intellectually crippled and emotionally wounded children who turn into the same kind of adults who start the cycle all over again. The Black family (if it still exists) is in enough trouble as it is already.
Chldren are expensive no matter what price you have to pay or how you’re paying it. If you can’t afford them, then don’t have them.
