Cash Money was started in fckin 1990 with Slim as an indie in New Orleans and is now making millions of dollars. They are the southern version of Rocafella. Despite what you think about Birdman and his talent, you gotta respect the movement that Cash Money Records has. You see that No Limit is gone and Master P moved on to selling albums at K Mart and his son doing ‘jerk dance’ records like he’s from Cali. Cash Money is New Orleans’ only means of mainstream representation right now.
Now as far as what Jae Millz is saying, I never heard 5 of the people’s music. I heard “Boy Meets World” and I can see why the people love that joint to death. But let’s be clear, Jae Millz is not “signed” to any label right now. Young Money is a production company, which means its structured that everybody is on the team, but the artists don’t have a distribution deal for their own individual albums. What that tells you is that Drake and Nicki Minaj (and most recently Young Twist) are the only artists on Young Money that are signed to Universal Motown. The only reason they got their deals with Universal Motown is that they had to garner a fanbase for their individual music projects. Drake got his from his mixtape, Nicki got hers from her tapes and “Barbie Movement” she developed, and Young Twist is a constant trending topic on Twitter due to his Ustreams and music postings.
What Jae Millz, Gudda Gudda and the rest of the crew have to do is garner attention for their own music and videos so that people would care enough to buy their albums and be signed to Universal, so guess what?? You guys are giving it to him with blog posts like this about what he says.
