I think CH is ok too… your assumptions that I like “wacka flocka, gucci mane, soulja boy n plies or some shit” are completely unjust. I’m a blu, jay e type of guy… I think hip hop should be more like poetry. CH is one of those rappers that doesn’t. He raps to rap… that’s never a good thing when it comes to the musicality of it all. And you can’t say he’s putting out consistent quality now… I’ve heard like one good song on normalcy… I was never biased towards him and after listening to his catalog I feel he’s not good for the rap game… He’s a bells and whistles rapper looking for attention… not to mention his illegitimate sense of artistry… If you need help finding good rappers I’d be more than helpful (not really, your a douche)… not to mention other genre’s… One shouldn’t be attached to a particular genre for they will become entrapped by it and begin their slow decline into deconstructive and obedient behavior. In other words, you will be brainwashed by what you listen to, not to mention everything else such as tv, family, school, ads, you name it. Oh and back on the quantity issue… If someone were to fall upon ch, they would discover a mass amount of music (around 400 songs I believe). Most of it would be pointless, half assed, and scattered so that person would most likely trash it. So the argument is still relevant because not everyone downloaded his mixtapes one by one as they came out. It’s hard to appreciate a good song within a smorgasbord of feces.

Wayne, Jay Z, Kanye, & Eminem have more than that, among others. so according to what you just said, if i were to fall upon Jay Z or Eminem, I would discover a mass amount of music that’s pointless and half-assed, and then trash it. @blazer CH’s music does what it’s supposed to do. Be good music. He does rap just to rap, but at the same time a lot of his music(if not, all) has a valid point to it. Typically you just have to take it all as a body of work, like music. You don’t listen to a jay-z song just for the horns, right? You wanna hear the whole song in its entirety. I say all this to just say that he really does have a point to his music. Just gotta do a lil mental workout.

Yeah but CH has only been around for like 2 years and he has that many. Jay has been around for like 13, Wayne a good 10-13 years, Kanye has been rapping for like 7, and Eminem for about 10- 13 years. So your argument doesn’t really work.

Charles Hamilton is a great rapper….. most of the time. Pink Lavalamp is a classic and if u haven’t heard it do your ears a favor and go listen to it. That is a perfect example of how good of an artist he can be if he takes time to craft the song. Since he came back from is few months of silence he seems to be taking steps in the right direction. I am excited to hear the new mixtape because of this. I agree that some of his mixtapes were overall lacking in quality with a few gems here and there. As long as he keeps his music consistent then I don’t see why he can’t get signed again.
Mediocre. However he can be thoughtful in rhyming, I feel that Star Chasers is a great example of that.

I’m going to basically ignore most of your argument based majorly on the fact that you said Charles is still ‘quantity over quality’ and I listen to more rappers than Charles as well, Blu and Jay E are excellent, Blu gets constant rotation on my ipod. There are many more but right now that’s beside the fact, I’m defending Charles.
Here’s a line that stuck out to me, ‘It’s not original to spit bars on the same beat as someone else’ you know what? You’re absolutely fucking right it isn’t original. But can you explain to me why DAY IN AND DAY OUT this happens all over hip-hop? How many people spit on the ‘Cannon’ beat? ‘Thank You’? ‘OHLEHDEWWWWITTT (YEAAAAAAA)’? Obviously it goes on and on, those are just a few examples. That’s what a MIXTAPE is. Mixtape is becoming a played out phrase anyways, just listen to ‘Death of the Mixtape Rapper’
My comment was kinda taken out of context because I was claiming rapping on the same beat as others makes it easier to pick and choose who’s best… if you see your favorite rapper on a beat you’ll be biased… There is no getting around that fact (even if an emcee has a bad outing on a beat a fan of that emcee will praise it like you’re praising ‘Dueces’).
Of course, rapping on a “hot” beat is a part of hip hop culture… I love it because most of the time a worthy emcee isn’t given the “hot” instrumental in the first place, leaving it to a roscoe who?
Also, there is no set definition of what a “mixtape” is. That’s one thing I don’t like about CH: He treats his mixtapes as if they’re meant to be at a lower quality. Artists should always put out their best, especially if they’re trying to get a deal.
I just don’t respect CH’s craft. It’s just a matter of taste and we have varying tastes. It’s in my opinion that he raps like Lil Wayne in the sense that it sounds abstract, but really there was little thought put into the lyrics. Thus, the lyrics are a facade. Once I realized this I no longer was a true fan… Similarly, like Lil Wayne, CH has a hot song here and there. But, to me that doesn’t cut it. That doesn’t mean I will delete all of his work, but it does mean I don’t think he’s an elite emcee.
I do respect that you listen to Blu and Jay E type folk. They are for the most part very wholesome. Fashawn is a cat I’ve been digging lately. Can’t believe I haven’t gotten into his work until just now. lol.
Sidenote: that “OHLEHDEWWWWITTT (YEAAAAAAA)” instrumental is complete garbage. I still have no idea why people think it’s any good.
