“It’s just me and Jay both rapping on it for an extended period of time,” Drake told MTV News on the set of his video for “Over.” “It’s real rap. It’s real rap. I do sing on it, but it’s just on the hook — but it’s rap. It’s great. The perspective, the dynamic on the track — it’s me and Jay’s relationship on the song, basically. When you hear it, people will be like, ‘Oh man.’ That’s how we are — just the two. He definitely has guided me a lot, as far as his words and his advice. We have a real funny rapport. I always enjoy my conversations with Jay. It’s good.”
Drake also spoke on the advice and guidance he’s given by Jay. Check that after the jump.
“Sort of the same thing. [Jay] does it in this way — when Jay says something, it’s different from anyone else. It just means that much more. Jay just has this aura about him. It’s like, ‘That’s why you’re Jay-Z.’ For a guy like me who grew up wanting to be Jay-Z, it’s influential — it’s very, very influential. We have great conversations. Just life. I’m not an AWOL type of character that you have to sit down and instruct. I’m pretty aware of myself and how to go through this whole process. The conversations are just funny and good and settles my mind.”

what a fucking french canadian cornball.
GET OFF HIS DICK!!!!!!!!!!!
I can’t keep listening to one grown ass man ride another grown ass mans dick all the time
when i heard that randsom song with wayne i thought drake was gonna be ill but he went the other direction. what happens if you give a good actor a written verse?
Do all Canadian people pronounce “Process” like that? I’m askin this question in all seriousness by the way…
fuk the small talk!! whers the leak! wats the release date? i dnt wana hear shit from him or lu until they giv a date!!
I know everyone is hoping he can sell major units to give false hope that the business model isn’t dead just yet but using the Lil Wayne formula of push back after push back is not going to net the same results for Thank Me Later but the longer they wait to put it out the higher the expectations get for this album.
FUCK all these small piece interviews you set up the album with a single plus the Away from Home tour, blah, blah, blah (No Kesha), you’re shooting a video for Over how long until you put the album out ???
This Drake character is constantly slobbering all over Jay-Z’s nuts
videos like this are all the same. they also talk about how great it is. i believe it when i hear it
I don’t really see how this interview is his fault.. whoever interviewed him probably didn’t know a thing about him. When a guy like Drake is in a situation like that he can’t just respond with “well that’s a stupid question – why don’t we talk about something more interesting to people who wanna watch this video?”
Drake is the man, and his album is gonna be the shit
Cue the token “Drake on Hov’s nutsack” comments…
What the fuck is wrong with appreciation?
I’m as big as a Drake fan as the next man, but I too am tired of interviews and stuff about the music. I am cool with it, but it’s like Drake does an over-abundance of them. We need to confirm a release date and get things rolling. See, I think that’s probably the hardest part about being the hottest topic in the game at the moment. Everybody is putting so much on this debut, I bet he’s over there second-guessing EVERYTHING instead of just letting it flow and come natural.
Then you wonder why a lot of his leaks are doper than some of the official single stuff he decides to put out.
I hope dude doesn’t get so meticulous that he over thinks it all and ends up with crap.
My thing is, Drake is a dope MC. He truly is. He’s talented and gifted just like tha nxt but his muzik at times differs frm tha rest, which is why I like him. He can actually sing, lol, or rather hold notes lol. And that’s a good quality for radio, his lyrics is dope I have yet to hear a dull verse frm fam. But, you keep ppl waiting (via internet heads) by pushing the album back you will get a dull response, regardless if the album is dope, real talk. Anticipation is only there for a slight moment, then it’s gone *snap* once you lose momentum then it’s move on to the nxt one, for real… again great artist but we need something in tha paint, and less talking about it, 100!!!
Drake been fallin off lately…seems like the more famous he gets the less creativity he uses in his rhymes…his verse on Pass the Dutch is a perfect example,,the content was about how successful he is, his car, money, and women….no originality whatsoever..and Over is basically an extended version of his Forever verse…everybody knows your successful Drake, so is every other rapper on the radio, tell us something new
From an article posted to Rap Radar:
“There’s a Jay–Z/Drake track that he played for us – minus Jay’s verse. Jay–Z doesn’t let anyone hear his stuff before it comes out. Drake claims it is the greatest verse Jay’s ever done”
Insinuating that Jay’s verse on Drake’s debut will be his G.O.A.T. is ridiculous.
With every new post that is coming out about Drake, my opinion on this remains the same:

correction ill son. he can be dope
see: comeback season
if only hed go back to jacking phontes flow. the wayne shit is old and boring. congrats that the 13-18 bracket still listens to the same bullshit over and over
all u “internet heads” ain’t even gonna by the album… i swear u niggas just care about a nigga putting out a song everyday…shut the fuck up…geeks
^^^^^ BUY the album not BY the album…. just saying….
This dude talks about nothing but girls, money, and glorification of his self. Somebody give me a song not about himself or those material things.
He used to be pretty good during Comeback Season, but now he’s garbage.
WE ALL THOUGHT THIS NIGGA WAS GONE CHJANGE THE GAME..BUT THEN WE FIND OUT HES JUST ANOTHER JAY WANNABE..SMH
IS IT ME OR DOES HE NOT HAVE HIS OWN STYLE[IM NOT TALING ABOUT CLOTHES]…I MEAN TRUTHFULLY…LOOK AT HIM NOW WITH YM & LOOK AT HIM..SAY.. ABOUT A YEAR & A HALF AGO WHEN HE WAS RAPPING LIKE LITTLE BROTHER & ELZHI…
IM SORRY BUT TO ME HE SEEMS LIKE A VERY GOOD FOLLOWER WITH TALENT.
the first song i heard by Drake featured Little Brother and Dwele. dude did a 180 now he doing songs with Jay and Wayne…. shame shame shame
I love when drake drops something new just to see how much niggas will reach to hate on him. The sad thing is the same niggas who swear they cant stand drake are still gonna listen to his album. oh and @DEV how did he do a complete 180 if i can recall isn’t lil wayne on little brother’s getback album????
“My thing is, Drake is a dope MC.”

Who’s Blu? My point exactly.

Just because you don’t know about him doesn’t mean shit. The more well known people are it usually stands to reason that the more shitty they’ll become.
Yea “Nas is awesome” is a idiot for that, rap aint a popularity contest…Blu could lyrically put Drake in a casket
every time Drake comes up I feel like suddenly i am lost in a sea of haterade :(
I got it! yall hate on certain artist on here and give yall fav artist music respect even when its shitty

Yeah, no shit, but if the guy ain’t somewhat popular or known then what hope is there for the fans he has?
No one cares about him = he will stop rapping or will be one of the bitter underground rappers hoping for that commercial success. Yeah Drake is a great artist though.

@Nas is awesome…not every rapper cares as much about commercial success as others…there’s rappers that will still rap til they’re 50 years old as long as they continue to get positive feedback, critical acclaim, maintain a fanbase, and have a passion for what they’re doing….Souljaboy has a lot of commercial success and every1 knows his name,,but we all know he don’t compare to Blu
The response to my previous post to Drake was fairly alarming, so I had to get a poll going. I’m really interesting to see how it turns out:
In 10 years, How will the world look at Drake’s “Thank Me Later?”
http://hypothesisspits.com/2010/03/20/drakes-debut-what-will-the-history-books-read/
Although its the cliche internet opinion on Drake, he really isn’t as good now as he was in the Comeback Season days. Even So Far Gone is better than the features he’s had lately and that single he put out. He’s just become the cliche radio rapper, talking about how successful he is and how good he is. He doesn’t even really rap anymore either, because of that boring flow he uses it just sounds like talking over a beat. Its kinda sad, because after So Far Gone came out he could have stayed independent and dropped a wildly successful album and completely changed the game. Drake has just become a highly overrated radio rapper now.
Lights Please >
niggaz shootin at the pedalstal.
I bet if this was Lupe yall would be praisin this shit

That’s the problem with rap fans today man. Now granted some rappers do change from what they originally were on (I admit Drake has, but he’s still one of the most talented in the game even if he has become more commercial than his more soulful ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT & COMEBACK SEASON ish), but most “underground” fans usually start to hate on a rapper they liked or would have liked when they were the underdog…but now since they get a lot of popularity and become the hottest commodity, people want to discredit them.
Drake said it best on a joint from 2008 called “Get Over It.”
“You seemed to love me when the sh*t was goin’ nowhere…”
Drake.
Over rated.
of course heads start to hate on drake when he becomes popular. i’m not saying he hasn’t switched up the style a bit to become more mainstream, i like so far gone a lot more than most of what he’s doing right now, but bottom line is the man is still dope.
blu and drake are very different artists. they have extremely different musical styles. both are great but they’re difficult to compare.
oh, and there’s no need for shots at the 13-18 bracket, no reason the kids can’t love real hip-hop, old ass heads don’t have a monopoly on taste.
This is what I think;
You have sneaker heads=hypebeasts that over hype ugly ass kicks.
You have sheep=dumb ass people who think niggas in young money are good rappers. Drake=most over rated rapper of all time. Same whack flow. Wayne=Milli Vanilli ass nigga. Nikki=serious?
This nigga is really gay. Does he have to suck off everyone who gets radio play? Jay,Lil Wayne,Kanye,Trey Songz????
How the hell can anyone ever think of this dude as an MC, let’s be real, he sounds the same way and says the same shit in different ways on EVERY SONG. The only difference between him and Lil’ Wayne is that while Wayne talks about money, drugs, and girls, Drake is ONLY rapping about girls.
In the end, both of them suck.
god bless

This made no sense. Dude was gushing about Jay… LOL.
And I had to rewind. I thought he said the track at the beginning was produced by “Freemasons”.. lmao
That being said..I’d be lying if I wasn’t interested/waiting/anticipating this album…
Dude has a shot to REALLY move records…
And “Over” is bonkers…
Alot of hater on this website y bother leave a comment if ur gonna call the gut a nut sucker. Anyways ur still talking about him and in the world of celebrity there is no such thing as ba publicity.
And Drake and Jay-z will be making MONEY and u’ll be buying their CD or downloading thier songs
BUT U WILL BE AT HOME WATCHING THEM ON UR COMPUTER WITH UR H8TA EYE’S.
wHO THE HELL CARE’S HOW HE PRONOUNCE’S “PROGRESS”
