As a big fan of both Hov and Jack White (The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, etc) this news is quite exciting to me. In a recent interview with GQ, White reveals that him and Jay did a song a few weeks back.
“I just did a record with Jay-Z,” said White. “We did a song together a few weeks ago. It was incredible. I played him something that I’ve been kicking around for a while and he immediately came out with words for it. It’s unbelievable-sounding.”
Shouts to Jay-Z World on the heads up.
Hip Hop, Misc.

dope, can’t wait to hear it
The Raconteurs being my favorite band this is sounding dope
Hmmm…..I wonder if Shake could even name a white stripes album…or who the other band member is…
i try to be excited for this, but i’ve been pretty damn dissapointed with Hov after BP3, i saw no effort.
“Hmmm…..I wonder if Shake could even name a white stripes album…or who the other band member is…”
blah blah… i listen to a lot more than hip hop kiddo.
As a person who doesn’t really listen to hip hop, just the news lead googled me to this site I really hope this doesn’t end up on the nest White Stripes project. Rappers don’t sound good on rock instrumental they don’t have the voices for it, and he already did something with another hip hop artist Alicia Keys that turned out horrible. Jack has classic albums but don’t conform to this rap industry fads like Coldplay. Their trying to put this rap crap everywhere nowadays what happen to real music!
yeah well shake start with get behind me satan, than elephant, than icky thump then lets talk jack white
“yeah well shake start with get behind me satan, than elephant, than icky thump then lets talk jack white”
what are you even talking about? i just said i listen to a lot of music OUTSIDE of hip hop… aka, im a fan of white’s catelog. smh… why am i even going back and forth with you haha.
@Shane
stop being ignorant fucker, unless i was the only one who didnt know that alicia keys rapped now and obviously you just have a personal issue with rap and hip hop and wont listen to anything regardless if it sounds good or not just because your one of those kind of people
anyway yea this will be dope. white stripes are probly my favorite band and hov has a knack for sounding good in crossover songs
^^ The fact that you think Alicia Keys is a Hip Hop artist (she’s R&B actually) shows that you clearly don’t know anything about the art form. How can you predict that the next collab won’t be good just because of what you heard from her and Jack? You and the Beatles: DIE SLOW!!!!!! jus kiddin but foreal tho stop hatin, actin like Rock can’t do no wrong, SMH
This could either turn out really good, or go terribly wrong. With the genius that is Jack White though, I think this could be pretty interesting. Maybe they’ll play it at Bonnaroo since I they’ll both be there, although I doubt it.
Side note: I love people that automatically assume that because you listen to hip-hop, you must be completely ignorant to anything outside of that genre.

i hate that,a guy i kno who is white swears that all rap is bad no matter who it is and how its a black thing, and thinks that i kno nothing about other music when he wont listen to anything unless its rock or a white rapper. he heard a mickey avalon song and swore that black people make the worst music and when i told him it was a white person he said it was actually good. i even played him some songs that sounded like they could be eminem and i told him they were him and he said he liked it but when i told him it was actually a black rapper he said it was trash.
The Raconteurs GO!
My roommate put me on.
*ignores everything said above me
if hova “immediately” came up with bars, we can expect his usual talking nonsense bullcrap hes given us for the last 5 years, he thinks cuz hes jay everything he says is hot
don’t worry Shake, shit goes both ways. i listen to a lot of “punk”/ heavier music along with indie and when i tell people hip-hop is my true love they look at me like i have 8 heads. everyone who is musically pigeon-holed thinks the whole world is just like them.
burd,that means he’s just racist… u know that right lol?
Looks like Dame’s BlakRoc project may have had more influence on Jay then I would of expected…. BlakRoc > White-Z
Meh. I hate when rappers do shit like this
@Big_E
lol but i swear its only with music, everything else hes cool with
Lol hip hop is my favorite genre but I listen to R&B/reggae and John Mayer (mostly because I can relate to the majority of his music) much more than rap
Fuck all you ignorant bitches. Jack White has already established The White Stripes as rock legends. Not really a fan of Raconteurs or Horehound but I own every WS album along with every Jay Z so I think these guys would either produce a classic or straight garbage together. Either way Im eager to give it a listen. Im sure Shake knows The White Stripes, even my nephew can appreciate each artist for their work.
case in point that mostly white kids visit 2DB.
black people dont listen to the Raconteurs!
BlakRoc > White-Z
He ain’t Jiggaman no more and never will be again his raps are garbage juice now and its just sad because because before the fade to black dude was dope but he just fell off he might as well be rapping about how beyonce wont fuck him and how he will fix his lips and sht so the only reason I would give it a listen is because jack is on it
@LazyLucas
“yeah well shake start with get behind me satan, than elephant, than icky thump then lets talk jack white”
LMAO yea jiggaman aint cool no more sense dat freemason shit I mean he can’t deny it all you have to do is look at the new Cocawear designs and u can tell its sum weird shit about em
and don’t you mean “Get The Behind me Satan” lol u funny dude
@Pdid
um take yo bitch ass on sum where nigga wit yo racist comments
I ain’t white far from it and I have listened to the Raconteurs
stupid low life jiggabue ass niggas are the reason why black
people still have a hard time if 1 black person is just being them selves and they are speaking correctly and ain’t acting stupid its some 1 like you saying “they ain’t black enough”
its like old floks always say “niggas is like crabs in a bucket when 1 tries to climb up another pulls it back down”
lol at big_e
I wouldn’t consider The White Stripes to be ROCK. (Yes im also a fan of them but they arent rock)
Bands like System of the Ddown, Slayer, and Slipknot are true ROCK!
@KC_Mafioso
Thats metal not rock
@KC_Mafioso
The White Stripes are much closer to the true essence of what “rock” music is by definition than any of the bands you mentioned. I got into the band around the time of their second album (well before they blew up with their third), and that shit was like a breath of fresh air, given the state of rock music back then (gimmicky, soft, boring) They brought the rawness back. They’re a little too on the hillbilly side of things these days, but Jack White is still a very talented individual.
But I also remember Jack frontin hard on rap at one time. He talked about how real music could only derive from instruments, not samplers etc. Glad he’s come around a little.
Hope this shit doesn’t end up being Beach Chair II.
^^^^^^^
Yeah I remember when Jack was sayin stuff like that. Then a couple months ago I read in some Rollingstone interview how he said he would be open to doing a song with Jay-Z if he asked, and I guess thats how this came about.
If this collab happened with the old jay that wasn’t a fucking sell out I’d be excited. but he is ass now and just another pop artist.
give me more white stripes. less of this bullshit thanks
How is this new News?
They apparently did a record called Rayvbans for BP3 but it didn’t make it on…in other words, they’re trying to pass off a leftover as a new cut for the next project.
*Raybans

“Looks like Dame’s BlakRoc project may have had more influence on Jay then I would of expected”…….interesting thought right there, my 2 favorite bands by far tho so we win either way……yall ever heard that adrian champion white stripes mixtape?…some good shit on there the remix for the pac n big cut is nasty
From a man who has seen the White stripes live on numerous occasions, this makes me sick. Jay-z is pretty much commercial trash and the White Stripes/Raconteurs and pretty much everything Jack White has touched has been straight up Rock, and overall fantastic music.
JW would just be weakening his portfolio working with Jay Z. Just sayin.
“But I also remember Jack frontin hard on rap at one time.” George clooney stated this a few comments up and its so true, I remember the interview where Jack said this. JW must be bored or some shit.

AFRICAS BIG SECRET UNTIL NOW…NELSON MANDELA GRANDSON AKA FACE…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_69bY2Ur0n0
This is gonna be epic
i hope meg plays drums on this shit. love me some jack, but it’s meg’s drums that give it the sound that i effing love. she sounds like she’s playing some ummah drum programming with her boom-baps. as long as they make music and not a coke commercial, this will be dope. who am i kidding? even a coke commercial would prolly be dope.
last two thoughts….1) ladybug mecca retworking the raconteur’s “steady as she goes” is heavily slept on, and 2) fuck all the ghettoization of music going on here. listen to all of it! nothing wrong with liking hip hop and some white folk too (not talking about asher you stans). black keys and the stripes are the best two examples of how stripped down, blues-based rock and hip hop are cousins. nas had it right with the muddy waters shit and was the precursor to these blakroc projects. please get nasir on a track, mr auerbach.
“its like old floks always say “niggas is like crabs in a bucket when 1 tries to climb up another pulls it back down”
^^^^ emcees is like crabs in a barrel… pass the Old Bay! -DOOM
lmao at all the niggas who sayin Jay is commercial and trash…he still will rhyme circles around any of yall fav rappers…BET A MILLION! Jay aint commercial but the nigga 40 yearts old, niggas grow up and eventually maybe sum of u niggas will
There is a mixtape that was done by some DJ named Adrian Champion where he took White Stripes songs and mixed classic Hip Hop cuts to them. There are some misses but there are some joints that are amazing. Its called Stars and Stripes
@ Tris – jay z is 40 and still rhyming about drugs and cars and the same old shit, stuff niggaz 19 and 20 talkin about… if that trash I dont know what is. AND he is commercial as fuck, the motherfucker said it in his rhymes dawg, he makes the shit just cuz its POP. He is capable of doing better but he aint, do your research lil homie.
my nigga who u callin lil homie? do u know me? I know about music and do my research on everybody of all genres and if that was his life then thats what he gon talk about. Yall niggas confused as fuck, when he rap about drugs yall say he too old and trash but if he talk about his life now yall say he wack. Now u answer me this…If yall bloggers keep bitchin bout Jay everytime he do sumthin positive, make good music or accomplish sumthin is that gon upset him? and what are yall doing to make to that level of success? Pop, wack or whatever yall niggas wanna say he is a success story to people from the hood and beyond.
I for one am very excited for this collaboration. weather u like it or not, they are both legendary artists so even if the song totally sucks, hearing it will be a dope experience. and Jay may have went a lil pop, but he has such a respect for the culture of music, that I can’t possibly see him having phoned in his verse for this particular collaboration. n stop bashing him 4 his content, cuz when he switched it up on Kingdom Come it was dismissed as being 2 soft, the backlash was so bad he became Frank Lucas for a day lol. you can’t have your cake and eat it too people.
I agree wit @Thremos
good job tris you said the least retarded shit on this site that I have ever seen (proly) time… *smh* at all you people
but um anyway… I doubt the collaboration will be anything spectacular… Though they both have there great catalogs of music behind them.
found this…

any ideas on locating the “Lady Bug Mecca Remix”
SMH @ all the rockist white guys that stumbled upon this site for the first time and are talking ignorant shit about hip-hop.
Sincerely,
A white guy who doesn’t have his head up his ass
lol at people who get mad at white people who listen to rock and discriminate against hip hop…. when its the fans that discriminate against successful hip hoppers the most….. i also agree with tris
