ummm. that made perfect since 2 me. he makes up flows 1st just thinkin of the rhythm n the sounds n then he jus fills it in with words. Royce says he does the same thing.

It’s not hard to understand, but that’s only if you already have a little background in rapping id say, for someone just now learning, it would be like wtf?
he’s saying he uses the rhythms of his flows like percussion. the second half is about breath control, how you cant really flow non-stop without pauses to get breathes and even when you can in the studio, its much harder to project that on stage.

Don’t overlook this. I ain’t a fan of Tech N9ne but respect to the cat, I’m sure there’s a lot of MC’s and rappers out there who make up the flow first and add the lyrics later or use a combination of both. Depends on the beat really.

Regardless of what you think of his proccess (or his way of explaining it) the fact is that in terms of both flows and lyrics Tech N9ne consistently out-raps 95% of MC’s.

Who knew breathing was such a science?! Sounds to me like he’s explaining something elementary and trying to make it more than it is.
You’re missing the point about the breathing, he explains that he makes his music and rhymes to be performed not to be on a CD.
On a CD what you record in the lab you can take pauses if you like in the middle of an intense pattern, but when you perform it you can’t so he makes the song so it’s ready to be performed.

Didn’t watch the Video yet, but Tech N9ne is hard working, funny, very orignal delivery rapper. Dude has crazy amounts of styles, and I have been listening to him for about a decade now. He is a little dark for some, but some dig it. Including me. REGARDLESS of if you like his songs, see him perform live, and I would find it hard to believe you could hate on it. This guy was born to entertain!
Gordon B. you dont get it. breathing is necessary to get the lyrics across to listeners, give us time to process what he is saying. he specifically says he does so every 4 bars or else his entire song would sound like bongo beats.

I’m not even his biggest fan at all, his music is not commercial (he’s too dark), but do I respect him? Hell yeah!!! He’s an extraordinary rapper and makes art with the money machine the game is today (where 90% of rappers are garbage… and I’m not even counting OJ da Juiceman, Gucci Mane and similar, they dont even qualify as rapping at all).
