DaVinci – The Day The Turf Stood Still (Free Album)

DaVinci’s music resonates with the authenticity of life experiences. “The Day The Turf Stood Still is the soundtrack for gentrification and urban renewal,” says DaVinci. “I want to capture the mental state of generations of minorities struggling to preserve and revitalize the last breath of culture we have.” Key to DaVinci’s message is the spectrum of messages he touches on throughout the album. More than just dark and heavy tough-talk, DaVinci also sheds light and involves listeners in the essence of hoping for a better tomorrow. One part Cornell West, one part Geto Boys’ Scarface, DaVinci embraces the potential contradictions of his messages in a way that delivers his words to listeners in a powerful way.

  1. DaVinci packs heat.. currently on rotation: “Ben” “Aristocrat” and “What You Finna Do?”

  3. its a shame on the real that drizzy single get 500 comments wit some “imma set it off, jada pinkett”… and real hip hop catch 2 comments. i mean it is what it is… but it clearly show the subjects hip hop needs to touch to get any play/relevance. “I’m wearin new clothes, new whip carry 2 hoes/”…. gon’ get more airplay than anything dude spit. i mean hip hop is what it is and i expect drake to see more plays than dude… but damn shit some bull shit…..

  4. Ben Is my shit! That beat is rediculous.

  11. Ill check this out. And as much as I dislike clothes/cars/gems rap, drake DID have some nice punches (not the best but still). I have to say, I disapprove of all the hate (yes, hate) that songs been getting. “Purists” are almost as annoying as “bum-nigga-rap” lovers :P haha

  19. This man is a genius…This just goes to show that some of the best talent in the world of rap comes from the bay. It is some bullshit that the bay rappers don’t get the attention they deserve…But fuck it, out here, from the bay, to the valley, all the way up to the Oregon border it’s damn near all we listen to…so all the motherfuckers listening to Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy etc. can go right ahead and continue to listen to that pop shit and be brainwashed by the big corporate record companies.
