A (2)Dope Mixtape: Empire State Edition (Submissions)

Way back in September of 2008, Meka and I released our first (and only) official 2DopeBoyz mixtape. And since we both represent the West (even if Mek is out in NY now), it was only right we featured nothing but talent from the Left Coast. A project we both hold close to home as it was amazing how many artists were down to be on it, despite 2dbz being rather new at the time. Now it’s time to head out East though. We’ve been working on this behind the scenes for the past few months and already have music from the likes of the Lessondary crew, Sha Stimuli, Emilio Rojas, Chaundon, Brown Bag AllStars, Donny Goines, BK Cyph, K. Sparks, Nero, Fresh Daily and others; with a bunch more in the works. This post right here is for any and all NEW YORK artists that neither I nor Meka have spoken to personally. Why not give an opening to some up and coming artists that we might not be fully aware of, right?

So if you think you’ve got what it takes, submit some of your best stuff (as attachments) to 2dbz.empirestate@gmail.com (and this email only). If we like what we hear we’ll reach out and see what we can do for some original material to get placement on our next project… A (2)Dope Mixtape: Empire State Edition, which doesn’t have a release date (and won’t until we have all the material, mixed and ready to go) so don’t ask!

  31. y’all should cover east to west in one tape.

  32. Great, I hope you guys do at least one of these a year and go to the south next.

  33. (shamelessly self promotive comment commencing) you guys should head to Delaware sometime soon…tons of sights to see like…well, okay maybe not, but we got a few talented rappers (like myself) anyways haha (shamelessly self promotive comment ended)

  34. beautiful! this is a great opportunity. i just sent some joints.

  35. Man, when’s the next westcoast tape coming? I’m brand new on this mic shit, you can tell by the shitty ass flow on my songs. :]

  36. Thats whats up.. I definitely will be sending y’all some fire. I for one appreciate this for real. Big up Meka & Shake for this.

  37. Long island?

  38. New York isn’t just the city. My name is Pronoun, from Long Island, New York. We get a bad rep for being from the same “borough” as the Hamptons, but shit is not all sweet out here. At all. And there are some monster ass niggas out of Long Island that everyone can appreciate. I just sent my entries. I think I should definitely make this mixtape. Good luck to all, and remember that the goal, first and foremost, is to bring credibility back to East Coast music. Let’s get it.

Also, I personally think that all East Coast regions, not just New York, should get a shot. There are some pretty nasty niggas in the neighboring states.

  39. @ shake…i 2nd tht comment

  40. what you two are doing for artists is so fuckin cool
mad respect for giving people a shot

  41. Is this ever going to happen?
