Bring It Back: Pharrell & The Yessirs – Out Of My Mind [2007]

Today’s Bring It Back post was inspired by some talk in the (2)Dope Radio chatroom. While vibing out to Mek’s choice of music and shooting the shit w/ some of the NMC goonies, Donwill, Von Pea and the rest of the c-section folk; someone had brought up Pharrel and The Yessirs’ Out Of My Mind project. Y’all might remember this from a few years back when Pharrell, ?uestlove & James Poyser got together to rework P’s solo album. The project was never officially released but there have been numerous versions floating around. Different tracklists, bitrates, etc. Towards the tail end of 2009 ?uest finally let loose of the official version via SwiftFM. I totally missed it and wasn’t aware of it until today! I figured I’m not the only one so I grabbed each track and packaged it up nice and neat for your iPods/Zunes. Enjoy..

  18. “good lookin shake for bringin it back for those who missed out the 1st time”

not just for the people that missed it back then. the cdq version didnt actually come out until a month ago. there was a 320kbs version floating around but that was just a re-encode from the youtube rips, etc.

  19. thanks shake.

  20. Thank U!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. Am I the only one who didn’t think “In My Mind” was as bad as everyone made it out to be?

  22. This is great considering the fact we snowed in down south got something to listen to

  23. Anyone no why “how does it feel” was not included, it was one of my favorite tracks from the Yessirs project CDQ Version would be greatly appreciated

  24. First, CDQ has been out since 2007.

Second, ?uesto did not remix this album alone. The Yessirs (as well as The Randy Watson Experience) is comprised of ?uestlove and James Poyser. For those that watch The Roots on ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,’ he is the other brother that plays the keyboard (next to Kamal on the upper level).

    James deserves his props.

  25. damn how does it feel aint on here that was my favorite joint

  30. [...] Throw it back to 2007… Enjoy.. Thanks to 2dbz [...]

  31. @Hustleman…
you are right on the inclusion of james. i will do that now. but not on the CDQ. webrips floated around, then people started “fixing” the audio and trying to make it sound better, upping the bitrates, etc. but a proper version was never released until last month.

  32. thanks hustleman

  33. This is far from CDQ. I got tracks I downloaded 3 years ago that sound better than the ones on here. (was “Can I Have It Like That” recorded thru a phone in Shake’s .zip?)

Still, never had that “Frontin” remix, so props for that! :-)

  34. Always appreciated [*_*]

  35. thanks hustleman for how does it feel

  43. [...] *2dopeboyz.com [...]

  44. the track with daddy yankee its pretty dope

  45. @Shake:

The CDQ was “around” in 2007. I think it was internally released on the ripping scene by VINYL.

The way the songs were acquired was through the direct downloading of the MP3s from the MySpace server as opposed to the 96k transcoded mess MySpace sent through their audio player. I know that most of the rips that were around were from people recording the music in real-time and encoding them but the ones gotten from the MySpace server were the exact ones ?uestlove put up on his Swift account. The MP3s would even contain the original ID3 information the uploader (in this case, ?uesto) used. Unfortunately, the site has stopped working since MySpace changed their audio player.

  46. Nice. I was listening to a couple of bad-quality tracks from this the other day. This is much better.

  47. Yous a good shit shake. thanks

  48. This is appreciated. Greatly.

  49. It says there’s 20 tracks when you d/l it from Swift (in the itunes album info). I wonder what’s missing? Swagger International?

  50. [...] of Hip Hop’s favorite bloggers Shake, decided to hit everybody with a ‘Bring It Back’ post. And like Shake, I missed this [...]
