Salaam Remi On Thief’s Theme vs Hip Hop Is Dead (Video)

Versatile producer and long-time Nas collaborator Salaam Remi shares his thoughts on will.i.am using the very same “Apache” (Iron Butterfly’s “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida,” yokels)  sample for the title track of Hip Hip Is Dead that Remi had used to create “Thief’s Theme” for Nas merely two years earlier. – SC

  1. the sample salaam remi used was by Incredible Bongo Band (same group that did “Apache” – same album as a matter of fact). will.i.am used the iron butterfly version with alot of replayed elements
