Promise I won’t say anything about the album this time. Directed by Will C and Brendan Cochrane. Rakim’s The Seventh Seal is in stores now.

  1. What were you gonna say? How it was pure doodoo butter?

  2. smh Im surprised ya’ll just postin this cause I seen this weeks ago but nothin was wrong wit this album

  3. Good song. I been waiting for Maino to blow for 5 years that dude got talent. Rakim the God of course did his thing.

Check out my compilation featuring Twista, Stat Quo, Crooked I, etc ! Now available on iTunes

  4. It’s either a real sign of the times, or an indication that things aren’t right with the universe when one of the best songs on a Rakim album is a duet with Maino. What’s crazier is that Maino has the standout verse on the track. 3 years ago I would have said that shit was impossible.

And yeah, Ra was my favorite rapper growing up, but his albums started getting progressively worse after Let The Rhythm Hit Em.

    7th Seal was a dud.

  5. this album = BOOOO!

  6. Do you fools listen to music or do you just skim through it?……although it’s not his greatest album….it’s better than 98% of the albums that come out nowadays….you won’t get it if you only listen to it once….

  7. Seriously, this album is hot. What’s the deal with all the hate?

Not to mention, NONE of you have pointed out what it is exactly that you don’t like. 2dope posts 100 entries a day and the worst Rakim song is better than 98 of em.

  8. Seems like Rakim is no longer relevant. I guess it’s true what they say, every artist and there ‘schtick’ has a shelf life. U either innovate and re-invent your self and style or you run the risk of fading out.

Rakim not only fathered a lot of peoples styles, but he mastered the flow. This album (to me) was a great album and I bump it all the time (along with his older ones). I can relate to a lot of the tracks on the album. And the album honestly is more like a convo than anything else, he’s just straight talking to you over dope beats (yeah I liked ‘em).

in any case, I guess people don’t feel ‘em no more cuz they are looking for him to sound like these new cats (who are bringing a different style which borrows from his…)

Sad to say, but I know for a fact that Rakim and Gil Scott-Heron’s album both will go unnoticed by the majority of those who need their music.

    C’est La Vie.

  9. I love Rakim to death no homo but his album was sub par. Im almost regret buying it
