George Clooney said this on January 13th, 2010 at 3:53 pm
beaux, lol just the word “Starr” is probably more popular than the words “Jay-Z”, “U2″ and “Dr. Dre”.

The Fucking Truth said this on January 13th, 2010 at 3:58 pm
I’ve heard of John Lennon at least. I forget what team he played on though.
George Clooney said this on January 13th, 2010 at 3:59 pm

dcruz.88 said this on January 13th, 2010 at 4:12 pm
Don’t get me wrong, the Beatles are a legendary band, and they’re impact on music is undeniable, John Lennon was a genius, George was a great guitarist, and Paul is a great singer and bass player, but anyone who knows a little bit about drumming will tell that Ringo was not a great drummer, he was just average. So yeah its cool and great for the Roots to be performing with someone like Ringo Starr, but he’s not a legend because of his ability, he’s a legend because of what he was part of.
The Fucking Truth said this on January 13th, 2010 at 4:16 pm
^yeah, he wasn’t the greatest drummer, that position would have to go to Keith Moon from The Who, Bonzo from Led Zep or Mitch Mitchell from the Jimi Hendrix Experience. But he did have great moments, especially on Abbey Road and Let It Be.
dcruz.88 said this on January 13th, 2010 at 4:19 pm
i did like some of Ringo’s songs though…. “A Little Help From My Friends”, anyone?

True, all I was doing was stating that Ringo is not that great of a musician, but its cool for that the Roots that they performed with him.
The Fucking Truth said this on January 13th, 2010 at 4:25 pm
i always heard drum instructors say “play like ringo” cuz he played the songs so well tho…method man (wutang clan) thats like george washington (america)
stevep said this on January 13th, 2010 at 4:26 pm
His contributions to the group go a little further than just his drumming skills (or lack thereof); he was the friendly easygoing yin to John’s cynical and sometimes egotistical yang. People often cite Paul as the opposite of John, when in fact they were really just two sides to the same coin. George was too busy trying to get more of his songs on actual albums and resenting Paul to really fill in that role of mediator, which was why John even cited Ringo as being the glue within the group. Strangely enough, he was also the first one to (un)officially quit the group, but he only left for a day or so. In any case, his relaxed demeanor and comedic presence was integral to the group’s success in the US, cos John had pissed a lot of people off with certain comments, and Paul was more worried about his own personal gain than making the group work as a cohesive unit. Meanwhile, a lot of people didn’t even know who the fuck George Harrison was. What I’m getting at is, he may not have been the best drummer, but he was the heart of the band.
George Clooney said this on January 13th, 2010 at 4:27 pm
Im not gonna get in a Beatles argument, because honestly Im not much of a fan, all I wanted to do was defend my statement, I never said he wasn’t a good guy or attacked his contributions to the band, I was just stating something from a musical stand point

Actually a lot of drummers site Ringo as being a huge influence on them and consider him a pioneer of sorts. Also the other Beatles all commented at one point or another at how amazing Ringo was at keeping a perfect beat and always needed only one take.
