Mos Def Creating The Ecstatic (Video)

Dope video of Mos putting together one of 2009′s best albums. Yes.. I had forgotten to include The Ecstatic in my year end list on accident (it’s hard thinking back 365 days and remembering everything that dropped). And by the time I realized, it was already too late and there were 91820515 comments about how much of an idiot I was haha. So take this as my humble apology Flacco. You did well with this shit right here. Spotted at Tim’s Neightbor’s lawn.

  1. He apologizes and then spells Flaco wrong, SMH. lol j/k

  2. that album couldve won album of the year in my book if it wasnt for OB4CL2. Mos is that nigga.

  3. bitch move. you can’t run a hip-hop blog, love mos’ album and FORGET it. this album is his best since BOBS and anything but forgettable. not to mention, the amount of leaks, videos and interviews — all of which you’ve posted on this site on a regular basis.

    a complete shenanigan.

  4. glad u made this post, i like mos very much, never seen this vid b4, thanks

  5. I was wondering where the fuck The Ecstatic was… SMH at ya’ll leavin it out.

  6. Album of the year.

  7. Should have been nominated for album of the year.

  8. Dope vid! Mos >

  9. [...] Spotted @ 2dopeboyz [...]

  10. mos def!

  11. This is the kinda shit I like to see. Props on a great website as ever

  12. No worries Shake. The album was dope, but certainly not up to the level of BBS. Mos is semi-back, but not worthy of a final best of the year list.

  13. this album was so overrated its not even funny..its like ppl forcin themselves to like it just cuz its mos def

  14. the album was crack..stop frontin

  15. @uzi
No this album was instant crack. If it were the case because he was Mos Def everyone one would have been all over True Magic and The New Danger but that was not the case because they were not that good. This album is almost like a musical score to a movie, that is one reason why it is getting a lot of praise and another for Mos Def’s return of the Black on Both Sides lyrics. So it is not overrated, it is underrated and I hope it wins the Grammy.

We get it. Sometimes people never grow out of the ” say something ridiculous so people will pay attention to me” phase. Its okay.

  17. hmm…good to see the neumann/shure 58 combo. ya’ll upcoming producers should take note.

  18. ALBUM OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. auditorium and quiet dog were the only tracks i can bump…other than that this album has no replay value

    @Ryuk
naw the album was just boring to me…w/e

  20. AotY.

If we get a The Ecstatic instrumental album, I will be a happy man this year.

  21. @ Uzi

Sorry dude but I gotta ask, what do you listen to? what do you find dope?

  22. One of my favorite albums this year and I always love see the behind the scenes on a album.

  23. i listen to a variety of shit from different sub-genres in hip hop from nujabes to yukmouth..

dont get me wrong i even own the blackstar album…its just the majority of tracks on ecstatic had weak production imo. plus that spanish track was pointless to me

i understand practically every1 on this site think its dope and call it AOTY n all that so me sayin that im not feelin it should be a surprise to y’all i guess lol

  24. No Hada Mas was fucking dope. Get a spanish friend to translate that track for you and I’m sure you’d dig it. I dig what Mos did, but then again, every artist is hit or miss these days. No one’s perfect but I’d say mos crafted a very well put together album. I wish History was longer, and I def, dont understand why Casa Bey was the single. Auditorium with Slick Rick was smooth as hell, and should have a remix with Jay Elec on it.

  25. @ Uzi

(sigh) Cant be too mad since you know who Nujabes is.
    Agree to disagree I suppose.

  26. Legendary, Album of the year for sure!
