when i read the title i thought about drake before ja.
i did 2 & B.O.B
if you gone say Ja then u gotta say 50, cuz Candy Shop was the same gay sing songy thing.
is this guy sad taht drakes feature gets more spins than his verse
why is that the black community despises people with more than one talent? You don’t hear whites and hispanics going off about people being able to sing AND dance, act AND sing, act AND dance, be a mathematician AND an artist. In fact, they celebrate it. It’s only Blacks that be on that “you should pick only one” bs.
@ confused
maybe you should watch the video before you make an assumption because he has no problem with it and is praising it
@ burd…I wasn’t referring to fabo. I was referring to the attitude towards it in general. Did you not notice that i never once mentioned him?
@ burd
Drake, B.o.B., Ja Rule (in the past), T-Pain and i’m sure there are others…they all catch/caught drama because they don’t/didn’t just rap.
I guess this is the evolution of rappers and everyone being an “artist”. It is what it is. I just want good music from whoever is putting out their songs. In 2010, can we make music and not bullshit !!! Please and thank you.
If Omarion, Usher, Chris Brown, etc decided to rap a little bit people would be ready to clown them. They’d undoubtedly try to say something about them not having the background to be a rapper…whatever that means. But the argument wouldn’t hold up because Mario, who has documented a harder life than most of these rappers, still wouldn’t be taken seriously simply because he came out as a singer first.
again…i’m speaking on the attitude of the community.
Yeah Of Course He’s Gonna Praise That Shit…
Most Of His Last Few Albums Had Mostly R&B Cuts As Single On The Radio…His Last Joints That Were Street Hits And Was On The Radio Was Breathe,Diamonds,Holla Back,And Money Goes…I Mean Don’t Get Me Wrong He Makes Dope Ass Music…But His Last 2 Albums Where Straight Up R&B Joints…

I agree with this. You don’t even have to do them well to get haters. Rappers trying to act. Actors trying to sing. Singers trying to play sports. Athletes trying to do all of it. So what, if they do it well? It’s that old, black, “crabs in a barrel” mentality. “He tryin’ to do too much…”
So, if I’m a rapper, I can’t sing? That goes against the code of me being a rapper? Oh, that nigga is soft cause he’s singing. Or dancing. Oh, that nigga ain’t hard, he’s in Hollywood acting. Or if an actor wants to rap… we act like we know him… “Oh that nigga ain’t no rapper. He aint gangsta.” When did being hard and being gangster become a pre-requisite for being a rapper?
Man, lemme get off my soapbox… I hate people.
dont sleep on chamillionaire. he got one hell of a voice
t-pain rapping > t-pain singing.
i agree with los. cept some dudes like charlie ham dont pull it off.
if they are good at singing no problem but if they suck (like wayne, kanye, etc.) then its bad.
@doomsamonser yeah… okay Kanye’s 808s sucked? I mean Rebirth I can understand sucks dick but 808s? Kanye’s fucking freestyle on their is realer and a better song than 80% of what was released this year so seriously gtfo wit that.
Roc, 808′s sucked, absolutely terrible. What is even more terrible is hearing him attempt to perform it live.
Phonte is by far the best MC/singer. Hands down. If you can rap and sing, go ‘head. But if you rap and make a lame-ass attempt at singing when it’s obvious you can’t, please fuck off.
and 808s was a joke.
That’s why I dislike 50 to this day. Hypocrite. And yeah, 808 was shit.
@ confused
you can make that argument for any race, culture, etc, its not just blacks that would clown someone for doing something different than the norm or than what they do, everyone does it being hated on and being questioned is a part of life
if you can sing, like i believe drake can and b.o.b kinda can. its cool, but if you have no voice whatsoever and you use technology to even make it listenable.. stop singing.
you don’t like 808′s because you just understand rap…and not music
Personally, I think if you actually are capable of singing, go for it. If you don’t, don’t do it. Simple.
Kid Cudi is one of the few that can definitely pull it off but sometimes he pushes it “I love you Shake”
