Meant to post this the day I got back from vacay but it slipped my mind. Dope documentary featuring the likes of Roxanne Shante, Invincible, Eternia, Bahamadia, DJ Shortee & Stacy Epps.
The Revival gives a candid glimpse into the first meeting of legendary Hip-Hop pioneer Roxanne Shante and veteran Philly emcee Bahamadia, as they trade stories of their struggles and triumphs in the industry over their long careers. It also shows the exchange of lessons between them and up and coming artists DJ Shortee, Eternia, Stacy Epps, and Invincible. This short documentary, a collage of performances and behind the scenes footage, was filmed and directed by Invincible while on the road in Europe as part of We-B Girlz all women in independent Hip-Hop tour. The largest all female Hip-Hop tour of its kind, it spanned over three weeks, six countries, and featured dozens of female artists who performed for tens of thousands of supporters.

Man I’ve been lookin for more female emcee’s. A lot of people are looking for more emcee’s that speak about women’s problems and issues. People are looking for other femcee’s other than Jean Grae. Cause if you ask anybody who knows anything about hiphop and female emcee’s who the best female rapper is and Jean Grae very well may win a large percent of the time.
I’ve been up on Invincible for a minute and she’s dope. (Still dont know if she’s lesbian though) The rest I never heard of. I of this other femcee called RAtheMC and she’s pretty nice and doesnt show he body. I headr this chick named Jahda from the Cool Kids last mixtape and she fuckin demolished that track, but she aint got no mixtape as of yet. I got her on myspace so I check in to see what she up to, right now nothin from what i can tell, but she looks promising.
But yea man we need to show more support for femcee’s that arent sexually dependent. Like Nikki Minaj. She’s whack.

In the last 15 years I ve bought maybe 4 albums by femcees. 1 was Bahamadia’s 1st joint and most recently Invincible;s new shit and both are dope. Thats the problem tho. Many progressive hiphop supporters are gmen like me and the ladies have to compete with the ruffnecks to get sales from us and it dont work out all the time. I hope they can build off this tour, do like Bahamadia says and pool their resources and realize its strength in numbers.

I saw this when I wasn’t supposed to – a few months back when it was submitted and it made me want to be a better MC. TO rep for the female’s who weren’t sexually explicit and all that bullshit. Eh, still goin. Still trying. Still rhyming.
