It’s been close to three months since I dropped Volume 2. And honestly, I had this concept and tracklist set about a week after that. But since I’ve been busy (2dbz, moving, vacation, etc) I couldn’t get it up until now. Anyways, as the title suggest this is a special edition of What’s in the Shakedeck. This time around I put together a collection of some of my favorite songs off New York artists’ solo debut albums. The mix features Biggie, Jay-Z, Nas, Rakim, Fabolous, Ja Rule, Big Pun, Method Man, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Big L, Cam’ron, DMX, Pharoahe Monch and more. Hit the jump…
01 Method Man – Release Yo Delf
02 The Notorious B.I.G. – The What f. Method Man
03 Nas – It Ain’t Hard to Tell
04 AZ – Sugar Hill
05 Big L – Street Stuck
06 Raekwon – Verbal Intercourse f. Ghostface & Nas
07 Ghostface Killah – Winter Warz f. Raekwon, U-God, Masta Killa & Cappadonna
08 Jay-Z – D’Evils
09 Rakim – It’s Been A Long Time
10 Puff Daddy – Young G’s f. The Notorious B.I.G. & Jay-Z
11 Ma$e – Lookin’ At Me f. Puff Daddy
12 Cam’rom – Death
13 DMX – Damian
14 Big Pun – Twinz f. Fat Joe
15 Mos Def – Mathematics
16 Pharoahe Monch – Queens
17 Ja Rule – It’s Murda f. Jay-Z & DMX
18 Fabolous – Keepin’ It Gangsta
19 Talib Kweli – Guerilla Monsoon Rap
20 50 Cent – Patiently Waiting f. Eminem

*Big shouts to the homie Hevehitta on splitting the tracks up for me.

For a minute I thought you were gonna stop doing this, glad you didn’t. It’s incredibly dope idea whoever suggested you do something like this must be a genius.

“nice shit..but uhm, big l aint from nyc lol”
umm… last time i checked, harlem was in new york.
lol @g…kill yourself

now shake, can we get an early 90′s early underground hip-hop one? hehehe. LOL
I LOVE talib, but i hate the beat to gurillia monsoon rap! jus horrendous!
dirty shit Shake, but no download? I got pretty much all of it, but still? or am i just missin the link? If not whatever free music is free music. Dope selection though.
^^
“I’ve been having issues splitting up the .mp3. So while the homie Hevehitta helps me out, enjoy the stream for now. I’ll update with a .zip when it’s ready.”
LOL.
Wow. The fuck is this? Remedial hip hop for 15 year olds that suck the dork of pasty white kids with a wordpress account?
Try harder. This mix is basic as fuck.
@g….damn you should never listen to anything in the hip hop genre again after that comment about big L…new york rap is where it is today because of big L please dont ever comment again thank you
Loki… you must live a terrible life if you are somehow upset by a playlist created by someone you have no real relationship with. Get a life bro, and I honestly mean that. Good look Shake, feeling this shit.
LOL NIGGA G HOW ARE YOU SAYING BIG L ISNT FROM NY? HARLEM STAND THE FUCK UP.
People care whats in Shake’s deck? I had to look at it though, im sorry, no dl though
How can you have NYC debut edition without N.Y. State of mind? I or II?
(…)
fuck the south
Nice playlist but if niggas don’t have all these songs already, they need to body themselves with the quickness.
dope idea for a tape
cosign AmGeez tho ^
its always good to listen to this shit
very dope shake. exactly the stream of tunes i needed while i put down this bottle of vodka and complete a couple covers.
Nice picks.
“How can you have NYC debut edition without N.Y. State of mind? I or II?”
because i decided to go with “it aint hard to tell”
download link added.
i agree that if you truly are a fan of hip hop you should have all these songs already or at least a good majority of them
“i agree that if you truly are a fan of hip hop you should have all these songs already or at least a good majority of them”
yea, this edition wasnt really to help broaden anyones harddrives. more simply put to have a little mix of music you can put on.
I like the track listing .. but is that you trying to blend from one song to the next. Please tell me you are not a DJ .. cause if you are .. you need some work!!
yea ive never claimed to be a DJ. ever.
Is the DL blended, like guest was talking about. Or are they just single tracks.
yo thanks for the reply back and the splitting up. Appreciate that.
thank u ! yeah for jarule on the list and for the SOUNDCLOUD [ the last standing, next to bandcamp, and usershare ]
and by splitting up i mean DL Link. Fuckin Baked
love this PM – QUEENS song, first time hearing it ! lol at fabolous haha, fun throwback!
“Lookin at Me” by Mase used to be my shit…
lol in the 5th/6th Grade…Woooo…
Jadakiss, Cormega and Q-Tip? Can’t sleep on those dudes…even Prodigy too
Pharoahe Monch – Queens, i think the first time i heard that was when his promo tape was getting handed out in queens. up until that point everybody thought that pharoahe was from BK (same thing with 50). i got hype cause he was shouting out linden & guy brew. even tho im from sutphin. south side queens queens
“Jadakiss, Cormega and Q-Tip? Can’t sleep on those dudes…even Prodigy too”
i can list off atleast 15 more artists i could have used. its impossible to include everyone. so i just went with 20. maybe ill do a v2 later on.
I think it would be fly as shit if you went each week and did a NY tape like this. From a southern cat’s perspective I never really rocked wit this gritty NY sound but this shit go.
^^if the demand is there i have no problem with putting together little compilations. i might stop “blending” the songs together though and just having them as seperate files as it takes too much time and im not really any good at it haha.
lol I have it playin now and it’s not botherin me. but it’s definitely good music that I wouldn’t have heard otherwise. I can school a cat and Geto Boys, UGK, 8Ball&MJG and Outkast but I don’t know shit about hip hop past ATL.
No one wants to hear shit from you. I’d download a white rapper compilation from you though. Or rappers you didn’t pay attention to at first because they had PR managers, but when they were told to contact you personally you finally answered and posted their shit compilations.
On some “give me a 2dope exclusive shit” feeding the ego, knowing you respond to that rather than good music.
#exposure.
blah blah blah… its been said numerous times. if you dont like whats posted, stop coming.
@Shake is the the download seemless like the mix?
nationwide projects, prison-industry complex// working class poor better keep your alarm set// streets too loud to ever hear freedom ring// say it backwards in your sleep, “It’s dangerous to dream”//
that mos def joint is my shit… simple mathematics!!!
Shake, your immature little bitch fits are hilarious…. “if you dont like whats posted, stop coming” ahaha stfu, its the fucken internet.
Oh wait, if you are anything like the character you named yourself after, you are a dumbass, so i dont blame you….keep going with your shit
Yo @shake… i like what you did with this, imma New Yorker and am really feeling it. You think you might start up a regional monthly mixtape…like get some West Coast, southern or even more specific than that? just and idea…throwin it in the wind
For some reason I get a feeling Shake is thinking
“Im laughin straight to the bank with this”
(50 cent reference) lol
Its funny people have nothing else to do but hate
Keep doin ya thang Shake…
Where else could I have been reminded of one of my favorite songs of all time….
Only on 2dbz….Where amazing happens lol..
I love this site…
Damn, this site is filled with haters. How can ya’ll be so ungrateful when the NMC keeps it locked 24/7? Thanks for the tape, Shake. Keep doin what you’re doin
Just wanted to give props to Shake for utilizing the “Ezekial” Shake youngin’ caricature. I really like this series and I’m always interested in seeing Shake’s favorites wind up on a playlist.
WINTER WARZ,, CAP FTW!!!!!!
Yo Shake, I know a ton of people have been hatin on this but I wanted to say thanks, this is pretty sick. As a young kid (17) who is just getting into hip-hop, I haven’t heard a lot of this stuff as a good amount of it was obviously coming out before i was born, so it’s real (2)dope to have this to reference. When no one is telling me what the ill music was from back in the day, mixes like this are definitely what I appreciate, thanks man, you do you!
(Plus, I also usually dig what you say is heat when you post, so I got trust that this is a pretty solid collection. Keep it goin my dude)
theres some new royce he just leaked off his twitter
Yea that Royce is sick…haha
damn ak… tell me you named after the state and not no choppa
post up that drop the world royce shit for the masses
2dopeboyz or get raped by a dog
hell na i jus clicked on some link in that luda vid wit them hoes shakin they ass. and my speakers started bustin out wit some im watchin gay porn shit. yall can’t do people like that.
@P’cola — they’re initials, and nah i’m from AZ
super fitting since the Ezekial episode just went into rotation on adultswim’s website. On a related note, good looks on the mix
‘separate files’ i like the sound of that much more
Shake should make a series of these representing each region/movement of hip-hop, i think that would be pretty cool
so there’s no fade between songs? good…but shake, some packfm would’ve been nice
can i get another link please it wont download
LUNK DONT WORK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The link isnt working
Shake, keep doing what you’re doing and leave these internet dumbasses. They come out with such stupid shit, if you don’t like it: dont download or visit.
This mix brought tears to my eyes. Keep these comin’ PLEASE! Keep doin’ what you do…ain’t nothing like classic New York Hip Hop…A version 2 would be appreciated.
KILL YOURSELF G.
BIG L IS NEW YORK
Joel its ya boi Dnyce! Mix is ill kid. Dont let the haters keep you up at night. Im tring to ponder what mix would be perfect for katz coming out of vegas that listen w/o a bias. I’m Not You, Tha Real Me, Can I live, ish like that.
i’m gonna listen to this and smoke a blunt…seems like a good smoking mix.
@jamine … Word, i was about to do the same.
Am I late on this post?
