I would say Jay-Z and Eminem brought Hip Hop to a wider audience (at least for this past decade). Lil’ Wayne is just doing what has proven to be succesfull.

The album is nothing special, but it had some solid tracks on there. Not too many gray areas… either the song(s) sucked or it was really good. I’d say it was about 50/50

As for broadening hip-hop’s horizons. There are a number of people who have done that. I would say truthfully Wayne has not done that. What he has simply done was take the role that Cassidy left, embraced it and ran with it. HE promoted himself beautifully I would say. But really the Beasty Boys have had more impact on reaching out than Wayne will even had achieved. And thats on the real. Many people have been hiphop fans with out having listened to Wayne. I know white kids who listen and have bought Gangstarr albums. And I think that was due more to Tony Hawk games than anything else. Cause Skate games always have the best hiphop sound tracks. And thats a fact.
