People still make original stuff, but don’t act like hip hop hasn’t always had samples. It still takes clever thinking and skills to sample the tracks correctly to make a new composition.
That’s why I always hated when people would be like “Hip Hop isn’t real music” or “it takes no skill to make hip hop beats, cuz it’s just copying the other music and adding drums.”
Maybe it’s some of that, but the dopest producers actually go in depth and do some work.
Who woulda thought they actually sampled “Uptown Girl” for Uptown? LOL. I still can’t even hear it.

The part of Uptown Girl that is sampled is used in the chorus. Its the part where Billy Joel does the “OHHHHHHH” thing. its been pitched down. Listen close and you’ll hear it. I caught that one a while ago.
lmao i used to work at a kroger(for ppl here that dnt kno what that is.its a brand of grocery stores prominant in the south)and they play all kinds of different music.and once when i was just chillin at my register they played uptown girl and i recognized it from the song and i was like shit !!dey sampled uptown ??and the title made sense to lol
