The Grammys blow, its pretty sad when the albums nominated for album of the year are The Fame, I am Sasha Fierce, The E.N.D., Fearless, and Big Whiskey and The Groogrux King. Non of those are even made by good artists except for Sasha Fierce and Big Whiskey, and those aren’t even that good.

No one said he was savior, but to say he isn’t hip hop doesn’t make any sense. He proved himself enough as a “rapper” on the first two tapes. We know he’s hip hop. On the last project, he incorporated singing in the music, but still has killer hip hop and rap records.

“Paper Trail” is NOT nominated for “Best Rap Album”. I don’t know where you got that idea from.
The official single release of “Dead And Gone” was in January of 2009, so I can understand why it was easily eligible for a “Song of the Year” nomination. They go by when the physical and digital single was released, not the date it showed up on the album.
Common’s album came out on Deceember 8, 2008. The Grammys date for 2010 eligibility started in October of 2008, clearly allowing that album to be a part of the mix.
Last but not least, the cutoff date for these Grammys ended in August, so nothing else from Jay-Z’s BP3 other than D.O.A was eligible. 50 Cent’s album and singles came out after the cutoff date as well.

Yeah, dalek was exactly right, the Grammys are rarely a true testament of the years best music in any genre, and the time periods they judge are strange, why not start at the beginning of the actual year and go to the end like the Oscars? Then albums that came out that year, but were late wouldn’t get looked over, because a lot of the years best material tends to come out between the period of Sept-Dec, and the Grammys always overlook those albums because they came out so early in their calender.
Obviously CNN is wrong as his nominations aren’t for the album, but a single he released.
