The reason Ether smoked Takeover is cause Nas is an ill lyricist who smashed on Jay using facts and references to real events.
That’s the same reason Beanie’s shots at Jay are legit and not “wack beef.”
If Jay was spittin’ even a lil bit like he did in the Blueprint and early days, it’d be alright for him not to respond.
But Jay’s too comfortable, and his lyrics are lazy. Beans is hungrier and his words are sharp right now. Jay’s the one with something to prove – not in terms of record sales, but on the mic.
If he doesn’t respond, it’s either from a false sense of security or cause he doesn’t think he can fuck with a hungry, street lyricist.
