“Nah Right, 2DopeBoyz, Herfection, Pardon Me Duke, and DCtoBC are the sites I visit.” – J. Cole
Complex caught up with J. Cole on the second-to-last stop of the Blueprint 3 Tour, in Illinois. Documenting the entire night and capturing everything from run-ins with Wale and Pharrell to Cole’s thoughts on fashion, groupies, and peer competition. He also notes that the dopehouse is one of the main sites he visits. Salute! Check one of the quotes below, then check the entire feature over at Complex.
Complex: What do you guys say to people who think J. Cole killed Wale on that record?
J. Cole: I wouldn’t say that. I got the obvious lines. His verses are still crazy if you really sit down and listen to them. And not to take anything away from my verse, because it’s definitely on point, but we’re in the day and age where niggas are so competitive and people got their favorites, that nobody wants to just enjoy it as a good song, which it is. They wanna say, ‘he killed him.’

Wale, you are too full of your self.. Give it up to the kid.. he ripped your head off
we’re in the day and age where niggas are so competitive and people got their favorites, that nobody wants to just enjoy it as a good song
LOL nah…it’s just that most rap niggaz SUCK 2day. How can someone manage a concept of a good song when one rapper is ages ahead of the other?
j.cole is a beast like i said j.cole= jay z,
wale= lupe?????(correct me if am wrong)
big sean= fabolous/a little bit of kanye,
kid cudi= he is his own man, drake= t.i.
= the future of hip hop
The songs a monster…Simple as, and as for Wale’s album…My fave album of 09!
no brainer…….Wale cant mess wit Cole on dat mic mane
exactly! well put mr. cole. i swear sometimes hip-hop is so unnecessarily competitive. and fans basically fuel that. people need to stop comparing rappers. stop comparing albums. who killed who. who’s better than who. just simply enjoy a good record for what it is. we need more dope collabos, more unity in hip-hop.
but as for the record, Beautiful Bliss was my favorite joints from Attention Deficit, which is definitely top 10 albums of the year.
I love this dudes humbleness. It’s something truly missing from most of today’s rappers.
I NEED SOMEONE WHAT YOU THINK OF THE COMPARISONS
j.cole is a beast like i said j.cole= jay z,

Co-sign J.Cole to the max… i been sayin dat from fukin time, wale did not get ripped up on this verse. j cole might of slightly edged him (even tho that dont fuckin matta, b happy that they both went in and made a great song) but the reason why ppl think J cole merked him wus cuz his punchlines were obvious, wale’s were more metaphorical (specially the second half of his second verse) so ppl dont really get it.
anyways 2 dope artists, and my favorites of the new cats
Jabari Manwarring, since you asked…
…I don’t agree w/ any of your comparisons.
cool just needed to know cause some dumb ass was telling me that shit
nigga is in love with soulja boy
I wanna go on the record sayin that Cole DID NOT murder Wale on that song. Wale’s verses were crazy. Cole was tight, too, but Wale’s bars were just crazy. Dudes is trippin sayin Cole killed him.
calm down guys…
they’re both dope…..
period.
Not only do we need more talent like J. Cole, we need more of that same mindset.
