Janelle Monae – Soul Culture Interview (Video)

Speaking to SoulCulture after sound checking for her first ever London show, alternative star Janelle Monae (Bad Boy Records/Wondaland Arts Society) reveals the name of her “self-realisational” new album, The Ark Android, and explains the concept behind it.

New Janelle album? Oh. Hell. Yes.

  1. a new janelle album is dope. but what happened to the other suites?

  2. Ok, no suites, i just want the album!! WHEN?!?!?!

  3. I dont understand her music. It’s like 3 stacks on crack. Tone it down and sell some records. I think she is the next best thing but seriously, tone it down for us.

  4. oh. just watched the video. i was playin music during my first post.

  5. dumb it down for jo blow…

  6. Janelle is needed she doesn’t need to tone it down for anyone, let her do music the way SHE wants… deal with it. People always have something negative to say about people who aren’t like these lames out in the industry now.The people who don’t understand her music are the same people listening to Gucci Mane, and all these lames!Selling records doesn’t define art. She will last longer than all the ppl who are selling records with their one hits on a whole album…losers

    ^^^^^^^
I listen to Music. From The Beatles to Lauren Hill, to Soulja boy. Good Music is Good Music. Janelle is VERY a talented artist. All im saying is, give your fans a change to grow with you. Example, Andre 3000 had to start off with an A hat and a baseball jersey raping about pimping however, as the outKast albums dropped over the years, we watched him grow. Its very important for the fans to watch an artist grow.Even with Kanye, College drop out isn’t the same as 808′S and Heartbreak. Janelle has started at a level where we are already lost. What the fucks NEXT?
This is not hate but an honest opinion.

  8. Word.

  9. SWEEEEET! Can’t wait!!!!! 2010 maybe??? I sure hope so! The industry needs more artists like JM!

  10. That is so amazing! I love that her albums have a real literary feel to them..tracking Cindi through the first suite was pretty awesome. I can’t wait to see the story unfold in the next album!!!
