Nas Scared of Making Next LP?

“This is a record that, right now, I’m scared of making,” Nas said of the album. “I don’t know what’s gonna happen, as far as I don’t know what I’m gonna say. I feel like I’ve put so much of my personal life out there, and I feel like I’m one of the sort of guys you don’t really hear about [though] paparazzi or fan magazines all the time. But I just feel like my life is so much out there [now] that it’s kind of like — man, I don’t even know how to put into words how I feel about putting this record together. I’m a little nervous, to tell you the truth. That’s all I can say.”

Before we even get any word on his next album though we’ve got his collaborative album with Damian Marley, Distant Relatives.

  1. PREMO PREMO PREMO, AND SOME AZ. DID I FORGET TO SAY DJ PREMIER!!!

  2. ^^^ There you go right there…lol

  3. I don’t even know how to put into words how I feel about putting this record together
    ^This

  4. your a rapper, your job is to put words together.

  5. pull an em and talk about yo baby mommma.. as long as is dope.

  6. NAS! Distant Relatives will be a classic, best album in like… literally years, can’t argue with that.

And yeah, if you want a new album. Make sure you have the following produces:

    DJ Premier
    Pete Rock
    Large Professor
    +2 Bonus ideas/ones:
Dre (some of your ooooold shit with him was smooth)
Em (Carry the Cross and You Wanna Be Me – were fresh tracks)

    Work with:
    AZ
    + Bonus ideas/ones:
    Damien Marley (you know why)
    Eminem and/or Jay-Z (the 3 of you are… c’mon.. you know what I mean)
Raekwon (or any other Wu member… I was hoping you’d be on OB4CL2… so c’mon man)
Busta Rhymes (I have my reasons)

    ^^^
Sorry for the essay + listing… every time Nas about to come out, I get excited [||]

Nas, you’re one of the greatest alive man. Please make as much music as you can WHILE you can… haha,
    1

  7. if you look at it from nas’ perspective, you can understand..he feels drained i mean he’s been making music nonstop for how long? all good things come with time

  8. Not to mention his divorce situation has been very public despite him remaining silent.

  9. you kno nas aint gonna read that shit right.. why you talkin directly to him?

  10. Step 1. Name it Trillmatic (The Third and final installment of Illmatic)
    True + Real = Trill
The Tri also works for 3.

Step 2. Have Premo produce the album (1 or 2 Kanye tracks)

Step3. Add some AZ, kanye, and some Em would be nice

  11. trillmatic? lol. why not feature lil wayne and rick ross.

If your a true Nas fan you would be asking for

    1. DJ Premier

    then

    2. Saalam Remi

    3. AZ feature, and 1 rnb bitch (not too comercial, sme1 like amerie or christe michel). that is all.

  12. leave the …Matic name alone.

  13. Ok since we going with the Matic name.. How about..
    Dollar Billmatic
    Ill Willmatic
    Must Be Featuring Lauryn Hillmatic
    Gangsta Grillmatic
    MC With The Most Skillmatic

Nah I’m kidding, y’all need to Chillmatic.

Nah seriously, I’m a Nas stan for real. Hyped for the Distant Relatives joint.

  14. The next album should and will be called “Bitch”…

  15. ive spoken with a few different heads that have heard most/all of the Marley album as it is right now and they’ve all said it’s going to one of Nas’ best albums ever. this guy is lookin forward to that.

  16. yall asking for shit he always does anyway.. so why even ask for it.

  17. Wu, Cormega & AZ, more AZ, Premier, Premier, Premier… Oh sorry and DJ Premier

  18. Nas collabos with anyone of these artists:
    AZ
    Cormega
    Ice Cube
    Scarface
    Bun B
    Killer Mike
    Raekwon
    Ghostface
    Jay Electronica
    Outkast

    Production Credits

    Alchemist
    DJ Premier
    Havoc
    Green Lantern
    9th Wonder
    Kanye (before the meltdown)
    Nottz
    whoever does Nipsey Hussle’s beats

  19. oh yeah, and a Malice/Nas track would be nice, too.. ha

  20. How about a song with Blu, maybe some production by Exile…that’d be interesting.

  21. Wow… dude’s…. y’all just missed out Pete Rock and Large Professor… why he aint in your lists? Listen to Illmatic and whatnot yo…. Large Professor been producing Nas for a while, not to mention his amazing remixes (eg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsjSzk3WHhM) and Pete Rock been there for him all the time… people just keep mentioning Preemo, but it wasn;t JUST Preemo there yo.

Haha, update your lists people, do your homework bout nice producers… Preemo MAD nice, but mention other ill ones as well. Pete Rock > Kanye
    Large Professor > Kanye
    Preemo > Kanye

I’d list more, but Kanye just interrupted me saying Beyonce’s video was one of the best of all time ¬_¬

  22. I would love a Nas & Tragedy Khadafi album (stay strong)

Tragedy was one of the originators of the thugged out queensbridge sound we had surging through the 90′s. Nas should collabo with him, that would be Ill – but it will never happen.

  23. Nas is GOAT. period. Nobody can match this dude… even Hov and Shady are fuckin miles behind him. Have either of them released anything like Illmatic? nope. I’ll never understand why Nas is so underrated.

This next album needs Premo, Large Professor, Pete Rock, maybe some Dre and Kanye… AZ, Cormega are musts and Em and Jay would be ill too. Oh yeah and another collab with D Marley.

  24. Honesty…This is what Jay-Z shoulda said when he dropped The Black Album.

Untitled (Nigger) is a classic in my eyes and i wouldn’t be mad if he bowed out after Distant Relatives, that is if it’s a dope LP.

  25. Co-sign on RavRav’s comment.

Verbal Intercourse II on Nas’ joint would be ill. And Jay x Em x Nas on a Premo beat would make song of the year.

  26. To tell you the truth, I don’t care about any features at all on his next album. Nasty Nas by himself would be good enough. But production, definetly needs to have:

    Premo
    Pete Rock
    DJ Khalil
    9th Wonder

  27. untitled was farrrrrrrr from a classic and nas is my favorite rapper

  28. All I can say is that the production needs to be on point and Nas; just write some relevant shit, shit thats against the current and wouldn’t likely sell. I will cry if there is a Drake or a Cudi on his next LP, no shame in my game. I will shed tears.

  29. I don’t think (most of) ya’ll get it…. Making a record is soooo far beyond features and production, it comes from somewhere deeper than that. Maybe if you just like all those rappers that just focus on throwing a couple clever punchlinces together to make a song (coughslaughterhousealbumcough), but it’s not like that.

Nas doesnt have anything on his mind right now that he thinks needs to be heard, he’s used so many of his ideas and stories already that I can see how he’s drained.

Why do you think most rappers best album is their first? (Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt, College Dropout, Get Rich or Die Trying, etc.)
It’s because on an artists first record they have so much to say, so there’s snd shortage of ideas. Every album after that, the artist has less and less ideas…UNLESS they have something big happen in their lives or something big happens around them.

It takes a lot more than good production and good features to make a great album. It’s a very draining process.

  30. What Lil’ Homie needs is Preemo, Black Milk, Statik Selektah and Dr Dre. He doesn’t need any guests apart from Em (as that would be interesting), as Nas is dope as fuck. But maybe singers on the hook.

But seriously, him being nervous could be the best thing for him in years as he has a new subject matter and perspective to come with….

  31. Totally agree with JL.

But I think Nas is gonna pull a Jay Z and get Ye to produce half his album and have the young cats featured on his album…. lol I’m joking, I hope that doesn’t happen.

Nas is one of my favorite emcee’s. The only album I didn’t like was God’s Son, because mostly a lot of the beats. I did like I Can & Made you Look though.

On a side not, I just had the weather channel on and they were playing the beat Quest used called A Little More Time, lol, my favorite song on the album

  32. WHAT, God’s Son had some classic beats!!!

  33. @ Derrik
You must be smoking so good to say something like that. God’s Son was classic. My favorite Nas album ( respect to illmatic of course.)

  34. Is the Nas & Damian Marley album out?

  35. Not yet and it’s frustrating as fuck. It was supposed to drop in June, July, August, and now there isn’t even an official release date. Wack as hell.

  36. he just needs some banging beats, his track “black president” and “hero” from his latest album had the best production, imagine Nas rapping on a dre beat or timbaland or just blaze or swizzy

  37. to jl your info seems a lil of when you say get rich or die tryin was fiftys first lp.shit im not a fifty fan but bein a hip hop fan i even no that.what about guess whos back

untitled is a classic in my eyes.i emphasis my eyes

hope he continues makin gd music and enjoys doing it and doesnt sound like jay and doin it to make money

  38. what i need to hear before i die is a track featuring:

    nas
    eminem
    jadakiss
    and game
    over a dr dre beat

i dont give a fuck what any of you think about that lineup
this would be my “dream” track

also i’d like to see nas collab with immortal technique on
    his new album

  39. concept album would be a nice route to go & maybe the easiest

  40. As long as it’s produced solely by DJ Khalil & DJ Premier and no wack features like Jay-Z, it will be a great album.

  41. Love is a powerful tool to help us to soar and excel in life. When our children have a big test, game or event at which their best achievement is our desire we love them, encourage them and build them up for success. We adults need a similar uplifting factor in our lives to achieve our best at the many tasks we face day in and out.

  42. This album wil be sick, just hear that song on 2:25
