Why can’t Hov just have his just due? The dude is dope, regardless of your taste in music. There are 465K people who will attest to that, including myself. Blueprint 3 sucked. The only credible source for hip-hop reviews, rapreviews.com gave it the 4.5 out of 10 it deserved. Everything from the wack synth filled beats to the same old bullshit HOV “I’m rich but I can get deep like a first semester community college philosophy major” lyrics. This album should of stayed backed up and on hold like 6 weeks of constipation.

Jay said he’s been out there promoting more than he ever has. Rae was doing college shows and interviews crazy but no hardcore mainstream work. Jay’s album cost twice as much on Itunes. The LP setup is hot (I copped) but had already had the cd and leaks well before hand. The comment about Rae giving you what you want and not doing numbers is the same as Jay making AG and it still not doing numbers although those hating now were probably much happier with that record. Everyone will never be happy at the same time somebody will always have a complaint about what anyone is doing. Especially on the net. Be happy your artist placed top 10 and move on.

that being said 65K on an indie (i think) label is actually quite good. most other indie label albums sell no more than approx. half of what Rae did.

Raekwons album wasnt that good. It had some tracks, but people are acting like its a classic, which it isnt. The marketing worked. Just slapped only built for cuban linx PART 2 on there, and everyone was goin crazy. Did up the same album cover as the 1st one, and everyone went even more crazy. It wasnt even the best album of September, let alone the year.
I’ve always thought Rae was boring but that’s just me.
I enjoyed Blueprint 3 but didn’t buy it.

Fact is between the recession and free music from the “internets” only the die-hard fans buy albums these days. I can remember a time not too long ago where, given Jay’s legendary stature, 450k sales for opening week would have also been considered a colossal flop.

But also his shit was distributed by an indie label as seen in the Torae video which he had hardly any copies in stores compared to Jay who was distributed by Atlantic Records as seen in the Torae video. Then with iTunes, people only cop on there if 1, they don’t want the physical thing taking up space or 2, they couldn’t find a copy in any of the stores around them.
