Q -Tip talks about the making of his highly anticipated upcoming album, Kamaal The Abstract. Set for release September 15th 2009 on Battery/Jive Records.
Highly anticipated? I honestly didn’t even know this was (finally) being released. Regardless… I’m about to push play right now.

This album actually was to be released in 2001, but got shelved. I got a leak copy 8 years ago and this is some of his best work. One of the best groovin’ CD out, great for the summer time.
I heard the nigga was rappin on tambourines and shit in this album. I aint fuckin wit it!
lol nah, I’ll check it out. It’s that Abstract… why not.
As a Musician… I kinda feel bad for the BIG HOMIE!! I echo Ali’s sentiment. I personally think it’s messed up that Jive is finally putting the Product out but You can see it in Tip’s face that he’s Progressed past this album and can hear it in The RENAISSANCE album. If this is something that Jive needs to do ride out Tip’s Contract then it’s Really messed up!! Mr. Davis has sooo Much more to give to the World and I hope that all NATIVE TONGUE FANS & FAMILY Stand Up and really get behind this Album as well as the RENAISSANCE!! And JIVE BETTA SET THE DAMN RECORD UP RIGHT!!! They’re Reputation in HIP HOP is really at Stake on this one!! They FUCKED UP ONCE PLEASE DON’T DO IT TWICE!!
Had this for a while, i remember signing an online petition to push this out. glad its comin. can’t wait to cop it and that Cuddiiiii
He was on Arista when he made this so I don’t know how Jive became involved. Maybe they’re actually helping him out. Anyone know anything about that?
no idea. i might cop though.

Also had this for 8 years. I’ve got this version already too, but not sure whether I’m gonna buy it this time round. Would love to know the story behind it. Great piece of work though.
Cosign with everyone who’s had it for a min. I personally love the album. The tracks “Heels” and “Barely in Love” Ride out!!!!
@ Dres,Jive fucked up more than once when they let most of thier hip hop acts go and put on NSYNC,Britney Spears and The Backstreet Boys on. I think that Jive doesn`t deserve to put this album out. I wish Q-Tip could`ve brought this out independently or took it to another label.

Q-Tip Speaks On Kamaal The Abstract… « Fresh-N-Proper said this on September 9th, 2009 at 9:44 am
can’t wait.
do you dig you is my fav for sure
I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. I’m pissed off that this album did not follow Q-Tips debut from 1999, “Amplified”. It would’ve been a great follow-up. I hate that it wasn’t because his adoring fans had to settle for singles and guest spots on certain shit, which was a pain in the ass to track down. Things like “Work It Out” and joints with Green Lantern, Busta Rhymes, Raphael Saddiq’s “Get Involved”, Chemical Brothers “Galvanize”, etc. I”m also kinda bent out of shape because some of you guys who love Q-Tip as much as I do had this album EIGHT YEARS AGO! I hate that I wasn’t able to get a leak or a bootleg copy. So pissed. But I’m finally glad it’s coming out. A perfect way to end the summer. I heard it on 9/11 on MySpace. Genius stuff. But I agree with an earlier comment made that he’s moved on from this album in the form of his last release, “The Renaissance”, although that album still has touches of “Kamaal” in it. He wants to branch out of just being a rapper from A Tribe Called Quest and a occasional actor and get into producing, playing instruments, singing and just being a fully-formed, rounded artist as a whole. Hopefully this album will settle the score for once and for all. I will be copping this joint and have it on heavy rotation and promotion and I urge all true Q-Tip fans to do the same.
[...] Oh yeah, Kamaal the Abstract finally made it out. [...]
