Don’t get me wrong, he is a talented artist, but I’m not really looking forward to his album. I’ll listen to it, but I highly doubt I’ll buy it. While J. Cole on the other hand, I think, is better. Overall, I think Blueprint is like a 8-9/10. I’ll have to give it a few more listens. But the production is really good, as expected. Swizz Beatz has been on some bullshit the past few years. He needs to stop making club-type beats, and go back to when he was one of the top producers. He always tries to make every song an anthem. Also, Empire State of Mind would’ve been sooooo damn hot if Nas was on it (not that it isn’t hot without him). I wish Cudi would’ve had a verse on Already Home.
Like I said, overall, this is a pretty good album. It’s not classic material, but how many classics can be in a guy? He has 3 classic albums and a handful of pretty good albums.

The album leaking has changed my mind totally. This is very well put together album and I will definitely buy it as soon as it drops. 9 out of 10 with my favorite being Young Forever.

Everyone is saying he’s laying out a Blueprint, i would agree if that was the case. Majority of the shit on it sounds like the shit out now so in no way is it futuristic. I don’t wish for another Reasonable Doubt (though imo it was his best album besides the Black Album) all i ask is that he makes an album which isn’t jockin’ on recent trends and does him. Maybe he is doing him since i can’t speak for what goes on in the man’s mind but imo it doesn’t sound like it.
In saying that everyone is entitled to their opinion, nothing anyone has said is fact whether it’s the epitome of shitness or classic so you need to stop arguing. But imo, yes i do think this album is whack and if he is going to make another album he needs to at least cater to his fanbase (as a big Jay fan i don’t feel like he has) rather than cater to the division of music which is selling the most right now. This isn’t my final opinion on the album and i will give it a chance and listen to it in it’s entirety since that’s what a lot of peeps have recommended but from what i’ve heard i’m not feeling it.

Just finished listenin fully, and I’m surprised, having listened with an open mind, it’s an enjoyable album. I don’t think dudes should be put off by the impression that Jay is “doing what everyone else is doing” cos for a lot of the album, he isn’t, and on the tracks he does do it, he does it better than anybody out right now. I believe this is Jay-Z’s worst album yet he should have sat down after the Black Album or Kingdom Come well somewhere around there coming out of retirement was not a good idea I support real hip hop and thats bullshit is not it. The last time I bought a Jay-Z album was Black Album that was his last best one as far as production and lyristism goes but now I’m waiting on that Salvation (Skyzoo) I guess he’ll pick up for Bk where Jay left off.
I don’t understand how people are defending this album because it’s ‘setting a blueprint’. It’s not. And even if it was that wouldn’t automatically make it a good album. Lil’ Wayne set a blueprint when he made Lollipop. It wasn’t a good song, but people tried to copy it anyway. I’m sure you guys won’t be happy when a million other guys are trying to get on the radio by remaking ‘Off That’. Jay-Z really isn’t making anything new, he’s just going with the trend (Jeezy, Cudi, Drake). Maybe I’m wrong and he’s just doing songs with those guys because he enjoys working with them, but from where I’m standing it seems like everytime a person gets hot, he does a song with them, or anytime a song reaches the charts, he freestyles over it.
BTW, I’m not a hater, because I had high hopes for this album, and I’ve listened to the album and it’s not bad. Definitely not higher than a 7/10 though.

To me, he takin that mainstream formula, and adding his quality to it (although that does slip up a few times), as if he tryna move forward without settin trends.

can someone explain the THANK YOU track. other than the last verse where hes talkin bout how he hasnt needed to kill rappers since they doin it themselves. the first 2 i didnt get and seemd not to match with the 3rd. is he thanking the fans or talkn bout other rappers ?
This is one of the most hated/loved albums I have seen in a very long time haha. People hate and love the same songs too.
True about the Drake comment on a J Cole feature…But J Cole certainly does his thing. As does Cudi, Jeezy, Hudson, 1/2 of Kanye (lol), aka people brought it. I think all the features are to make it that album for the times. People will remember this album. All the biggest names with Jay-Z conducting. That’s what it feels like to me.
Then again, no Nas, no Wayne, etc. Good album though good listen.
Not saying it was necessarily great, just that I think it will be remembered.

I can’t say I like it too much. The Blueprint 3 is not looking too good. I’m still gonna buy it but I really hope it grows on me.
