KiD CuDi – Man On The Moon: The End Of Day (Listening Session Review)

Last night I went to CuDi’s listening party and heard the album… not exactly. Last night I went to CuDi’s listening party, filled my palate with free alcohol and heard about six songs from the album before I got hungry and left the damn thing. Long story short, (to me) it’s not an album that you can listen to in a party atmosphere to get the full range of it; it’s more or less music you have to listen to in your headphones (like Jay Electronica). Not that I’m clowning it or anything, but I just couldn’t hear the damn thing while alcohol was swimming in my bloodstream and naked bitties in sweaters kept catching my eye. Maybe Steven’s review would be better than mine, actually…

  1. lmao! “not exactly. Last night I went to CuDi’s listening party, filled my palate with free alcohol and heard about six songs from the album before I got hungry and left the damn thing.” yeah u were outta there after the ciroq ran out.

  2. Pathetic blog entry. Time to head somewhere where the blogger can write with substance and style.

  3. okay sperm take ur sophisticated ass somewhere else then its a fucking blog you fag

  4. Im really lookin foward to this album

  5. i am too drew im so excited for something different from a hip hop artist…i bet this album wont even sound like a rap album

  6. Damn Meka, I can’t blame you for getting boozed up and checking out the females, but at least give us a link to a review from someone that actually DID stick around and hear the album..

  7. This blog is slipping. You get to attend an exclusive listening session?

  8. lame

  9. Me too. I think it might be the album of the year. No joke.

  10. Like people have been saying i think Cudi is gonna surprise alot of people

  11. Yo Yo Joe Budden is a wanted man….FYI FOr all yall smart dumb niggaz

  12. Lol, Meka, why you got to be like that?

  13. yO Watch out cuz Gucci Mane is comin for Buddens.

    You heard it here first.

  14. While it’s true what you say about his music being the type you can’t really appreciate at a party, I think you made the wrong choice by getting wasted and leaving early.. that’s just me though.

    Can’t work for Cudi’s masterpiece.

  15. LOL this guy gets to attend a exclusive listening session and he goes to get drunk? Or maybe, he didnt attend and hes just lying?

  16. dudes review says that the last track is one of the best, and compares its sound to something you might hear on a Nelly Furtado record… nuff said, not interested. ill cop this album for my girl

  17. Meka, I’m sorry but you’re a fucking loser.

    The end.

  18. Someone please replace this retard!

  19. Spence, if you take into heart what anybody says on a review you will take an L every time.

  20. Isn’t this the equivalent of not doing your job because you were too fucked up? You know, like calling out of work because you’re too baked? Or, canceling the gig because you did too much blow the night before and now you can’t sing cuz your nose is stopped up? I’m pretty disappointed…

  21. Good info all around!

Looking forward to the album, but to say “album of the year”?!? I don’t know about that one TE. I leave those comments for the likes of Mr. Fiasco/Percival :)

Besides, there are WAY to many upcoming acts right now. I think Ayomari’s album/mixtape will be better than Cudi’s. Cudi just isn’t buzzin’ like that, he is toooo pothead-ish for me. Still coo though!

  22. ya’ll take isht too serious. i look at a listening party as a perk to the gig, not some job requirement. bottom-line who cares about what someone else thinks about an album that they’ve heard once at an industry party?? keep on bringing me a whole bunch of music that i appreciate and i’ll keep on checking out 2dopeboyz…and while you’re at it, have a shot or three of comp’d patron for me at the next affair.

  23. And another thing,

I’ve noticed alot of random people comin here baggin’ on 2DB on this and that. To me that’s pretty damn disrespectful. Especially when they are supplying you with half the music in your damn iTune/Zune Library.

I have been using this sight almost religously while I’m deployed, and I think they have done A DAMN GOOD JOB at keeping me in the loop. So, you might want to fall back and recalibrate your shit or take that shit somewhere else.

  24. ^ Agreed completely.

  25. for real man ^^^ i completely agree with you theres no reason to get on shake/meka’s back about what they do…im on here like everyday getting a bunch of new music i won’t complain if meka goes to a listening party and has a good time haha…bunch of butt hurt bastards around here now

  26. well, just a little FYI for the lames…..Gucci Mane has beef wit buddens cuz he aint mention him for consideration of MC South in Slaughterhouse

  27. lol you dont get drunk to cudi’s music you get high to it

  28. What’s a muthaffukin Kudi? Coz I know that shieeet aint hip hop

  29. i still dont like the fact that he sings more than he raps…that shit really isn’t hip hop…..but thats just me

  30. I agree with black…and how come everytime i see Cudis cover the first thing I see is an ass with the top of some thighs, then I realise its the cover, cudis face looks like it could be the bush too

  31. Idk. thats a pretty lame excuse to say ” Well they give us free music all the time so its cool if Meka lames out and doesnt do his job.” Trust me if 2dbz didnt drop the free music the million other hip hop blogs would. I mean he said a billion times he couldnt wait to move to NY and when he gets there his introverted ass even deliver. FAIL.

  32. To be completely honest, I’m really not impressed with his two mixtapes, A Kid Named Cudi and Dat Kid From Cleveland.

Of all those tracks besides his singles, “Look Up In the Stars” featuring Wale is the only one that slaps. I honestly don’t know what he is talking about half the time, aside from weed and bitches. Maybe he is just to high above my level of understanding. I’M A GROWN-ASS, COLLEGE-EDUCATED MAN AND DON’T GET HIM, SERIOUSLY!

So if this album drops and its boo boo water, my Macbook’s delete button will escort him to the trash can, SERIOUSLY!

  33. @ yo….this blog isn’t a job in my opinion…2dbz doesn’t have to do what they do but they do it anyway…yea i would have liked a well written review from meka on what the album was like but in the end its a free blog that shake and meka are allowed to do with what they want…in the end though shake >>>> meka lol

  34. What’s a muthaffukin Kudi? Coz I know that shieeet aint hip hop

    nobody said it was

  35. Okay, I have a problem.
If you like hip hop, okay.
If you like other music, okay.
If you like collaborations between hip hop and other music, okay.
    That said.
Im sick of people listening to only collaborations because they like the different sounds but refuse to branch out from the hiphop genre. There are a lot of hiphop fans looking for a rapper that can deliver more than rap. Does anyone realize how retarded it is to look for not-rap on rap websites, or to attempt to find not-rap music that comes from a ‘rapper’?

  36. “@ yo….this blog isn’t a job in my opinion…2dbz doesn’t have to do what they do but they do it anyway…yea i would have liked a well written review from meka on what the album was like but in the end its a free blog that shake and meka are allowed to do with what they want…in the end though shake >>>> meka lol”

    ^
Are you kidding? Because they get paid to do this. In Mekas words
” All us yokels keep his pockets lined.”

  37. hey, i’ve been comin to this blog for a minute and after a while you just gotta come to realize, all the tons of people going to this blog, didnt say to shakew and meka, “give us free music, make a blog”. no one is making them do this. You wanna do this? well your dedicated viewer is asking for a little proffesionalism. If your lucky enough to go to a listening party and hear free music, that the rest of us have to PAY for then can you please act like you care. shit if you dont care enough to describe to us what you really thought then shit ill take your job cuz you must not wanna do it that bad…oh, and i’ve also come to realize that meka is bitch made, and shake is the one to pay attention to.

  38. I def see where you’re coming from Meka.. CuDi’s music is for when you’re high as fuck, and just chillen and just want to listen to beats.. and thats what I expect the album to be like.. it’s going to be ill.

  39. Jpre21 I agree with you. Too many people have forgotten to appreciate hip-hop for what it is. I’m all for growth but there’s this unrealistic expectations from fans on rappers. If you want to hear a rock track, fuck Lil Wayne and go peep some dope rock music.

It’s like the Forever track that leaked yesterday. Clams need to shut up and enjoy hip-hop.

As for as dude getting wasted and dipping out early, I think it’s rude to CuDi and whomever invited him there but if he ain’t feeling it, he ain’t feeling it. I definitely agree that there’s music that must be listened to a certain way so hop off his dick and let him do him.

  40. Kid CuDi wouldve wanted meka to come to the party and get fucked up lol…a little dissappointed at the half assed review but hey its their blog they can do what they want…man on the moon-end of the day is still gonaa be the most original thing in ya fuckin headphones youve heard in the last few years…so what if he sings kanye does it wayne does it ja rule did it..music is an art and an artist can do whatever

  41. Though I’m kinda disappointed because I am a huge Cudi fan who was first turned onto his music by this website, and I was hoping that 2dopeboyz would take advantage of the invite to a thing like this…..I guess it’s a man’s right to bounce early.
Not like im gonna stop visiting the site, just a little letdown.

  42. ” hey, i’ve been comin to this blog for a minute and after a while you just gotta come to realize, all the tons of people going to this blog, didnt say to shakew and meka, “give us free music, make a blog”. no one is making them do this. Completely agree with that whole paragraph. Meka just posts music in a carefree fashion as if he doesn’t give a shit about his job. That asshole is getting paid for this and yet still acts like a total douche.Throwing random ass comments here and there, jesus.. I know we’re not supposed to take it to the heart but there’s only so much criticism one can stand. Meka criticizes damn near everything he posts and never names tracks properly most of the time either, unlike Shake.Come to think of it, Meka losing ownership of this blog and Shake running it would be a damn good idea. Shake >>>>>>>> Meka BY FAR.

  43. If you need an essay-sized write up to convince you to listen to an album or a particular track, you probably weren’t going to listen to and/or enjoy the album/track anyways. Furthermore, the Cudi-Jay Electronica comparison was spot on. It’s just not the type of music girls are going to dance to in a party/club atmosphere; even when I hear “Day N Nite” at a bar it’s always some up-tempo dance remix.

  44. im in support of letting these guys run their blog the way they want to BUT i wouldnt mind seeing shake running the blog exclusively or get a new partner cause yea meka is so damn negative ALL the time its like ease up a bit meka

  45. ^ Exactly!

  46. not every rap album has to be Ringtone rap, CuDi is going to be rejected by some people if he likes it or not, but he did say the album is going to be “deep & definitely different”

  47. don’t believe me just read the review… it the album actually sounds interesting

  48. “Awh, Awh” @ everyone shittin’ on Meka right now, WOW!

I don’t frequent this part of the site that much, I usually download and leave, so I don’t know why everyone is getting their Lawry’s on right now.

I would imagine it takes alot of work and dedication to keep this site up to date. So stop bashin’ the people providing this service to you. And If you don’t like it, don’t be a groupie, keep it moving, please!

For everyone else, download, support the artist and be happy

    Awh, Awh

  49. Wait, did no one notice he put a link for some of you ingrates?

  50. ^ Did we fucking beg him and ask for it or something? Not really, it’s his choice whether or not he wants to provide the links.. we could really careless whether or not its posted here, y’all acting like 2dopeboyz is the only blog on the net. Meka can atleast be fucking optimistic about something when he posts it. Like it or dislike whatever, but don’t be fucking negative all the damn time. And people wanna discuss this type of stuff cuz this isn’t like normal blogs, where you download and just move on.. it’s pretty complex than most blogs so that’s why it’s ok to express this type of shit.

  51. Can’t wait for the album.

  52. the fact we comment shows how much we like the blog … and i understand that running a blog is hard, it really is. you have to be on top of your game because there are hundreds of other blogs giving you the same ish.

like most things though, people want to see dedication, and that’s why people are probably mad that Meka didn’t make a review at a listening session. it wasn’t a drinking party, it was a listening session.

that being said, Cudi’s album looks like it’ll be really good, and i still appreciate Shake & Meka for supplying me w/music. they’re really the only site i basically go to for my music needs.

  53. ^^^
Agreed, 2dopeboyz is always on point, it’s pretty much the only blog i come to. That being said, maybe it’s the consistently great level of quality from this site that makes me a bit disappointed in this post.

  54. just from all the posts i’ve seen of cudi, meka doesn’t like this dude. every post from meka he is bashing cudi but that’s all cool because that is his opinion. I myself am ready for cudi’s album.

  55. http://live.drjays.com/index.php/2009/08/27/review-kid-cudis-man-on-the-moon-the-end-of-the-day/

    Theres a good review

  56. 2dopeboyz is one of the most amazing blogs on the net, no doubt about that and I myself will admit that I love this blog. However, it wouldn’t hurt for Meka to show some dedication from time to time. If Shake does a good job of that, why can’t Meka?

  57. Yo yeah that’s pretty dissapointing what mecca did but that really doesn’t change my opinion that this is a great blog. Im sure duke won’t pull shit like that again, this is the first time somthing like this happened anyways.

And for real cudi is on some next level shit. For all the haterz that don’t understand, GOOD. Thats the way to seperate the progressive crowd from the LAMES.
