I remember this like it was yesterday. Celeb deaths usually don’t phase but this had an impact I couldn’t explain. Hard to believe she’d be 30 y/o now. Damn. RIP

I didn’t find her talented when it came to singing, but I think she had some good records throughout her career.

DAMN I CANT BELIEVE HOW FAST TIME HAS FLOWN THIS WAS ONE OF THE HAPPIEST AND SADDEST TIMES OF MY LIFE I HAD JUST GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL THAT SUMMER AND WAS ABOUT TO JOIN THE MILITARY THEN ON THE DAY I’M AT THE STATEN ISLAND HOTEL ABOUT TO FLY TO BOOT-CAMP IN GREAT-LAKES, CHICAGO I REMEMBER HEARING THE NEWS ON HOT97 WHEN SHE DIED WHICH WAS JUST TOO DEPRESSING THEN A FEW WEEKS LATER THE PLANES RAN INTO THE WORLD-TRADE CENTER WHICH WAS JUST CRAZY BUT WHATS EVEN MORE SAD IS THE STATE OF NOT JUST R&B BUT MUSIC IN GENERAL ITS LIKE WHERE IS THE ESSENCE WHERE IS THE HEART PEOPLE LIKE AALIYAH USE TO PUT INTO THEIR MUSIC EVERYTHING IN THIS DAY AN AGE IS SO CRAPPY WHICH IS WHY I CANT EVEN PUT ON THE RADIO CAUSE I ALREADY KNOW WHAT I WILL BE HEARING OVER AN OVER AGAIN WHICH IS GARBAGE :(
RIP AALIYAH WE LOVE AND WE MISS YOU SO MANY TRY TO EMULATE YOUR STYLE BUT CANT DO IT
