This track is classic Hov just in a 2009 era!! The first verse is ill, “I’m just a runway show, but I wear this on my plane these my runway clothes”…”Cashmere sweats they come out next year but they my last year sweats”..Come on yall what did you expect? Thats how he gets down. Second verse is ill also. Just listen and don’t judge. I think folks expected seomthing like Drake’s Successful, real lyrical and serious and musical. But if you think about what the Blueprint 3 is, its just Jay going back to the essentials of modern hip hop.
First song was the usual ANTI-pop song for the hip hop heads which was DOA, Second song Run This Town (is whack) but its just that big sounding song with the R&B feature that albums usually have for cenimatic purposes just like Lupes Superstar. And then the 3rd song is this one which is MAINLY FOR THE CLUBS but its not a terrible club record like Gucci Mane or LMFAO or Soulja Boy its true club hip hop like “Give It To Me”, “Big Pimpin”, etc.
I wanted to hear a Drake verse too but its not that bad Jay-Z used Drake for a specific purpose and its to get his fans but at the same time let it be known that he is still the king of this shit. And honestly I dont think Drake woulda blown us away with a verse with something new, it would probably sound like a carbon copy of his other verses.
But just know that this album isnt gonna be a classic because its too much thought going into judgin it but if you sit back and enjoy the music you’ll understand its just Jay-Z doing what Jay-Z does nothin more nothing less.

All the songs for BP3 that have been leaked thus far have been average, however, he doesn’t have anything to rap about that we haven’t heard. Unless he was in the mood to push some people’s buttons. But in the position he is in now, he is just going to stay safe and move units on name (brand) alone.

kinda agree. it really seems the underground is pushing it forward way more than Jay. Run this Town and Off That sounds like hes pushing for more pop radio spins. Someone mentioned this earlier about him staying in the CEO lane. Him being in the same circles and dealing with legitimate business people probably is a large reason his content has been ‘watered down’ so much. When there is money to be made, you have to be extra protective of your brand. So, talking street shit and kicking up a fuss to the point of making headlines isn’t in his best interest. At this point, he doesn’t really need to grow his fan base.
With that said, while his content is repetitive and general, there is still an aspect of hip-hop called storytelling. Storytelling has been a part of his past. We don’t get any of that. We also get no REAL introspection other than some tracks on Black Album and American Gangster.
And by no introspection, I mean out of his last few releases. Obviously, RD and Vol. 1 were chalk full of that.
Some of you haters are probably young. This song is FIRE!! Its about someone with experience being past childish things. You might not like the joint if youre still on some of the things that some of us are off of. And a message to all you Drake lovers.. I’m a Drake fan and I thank the skys for people like him and Cudi to keep Hip Hop movin but who the F*ck is Drake compared to Jay.. He’s lucky to be playing on the same court.
