Amazon recently put up the album sampler for Raekwon’s upcoming album and from 3 listens this shit sounds pretty good! Can’t wait to check the full thing. Shouts to Ice on the heads up.
STREAM: Raekwon – Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 (Snippets)
PREVIOUS: Raekwon – House of Flying Daggers f. Inspectah Deck, Ghostface Killah & Method Man (Teaser)

this album sounds FIRE. REAL HIPHOP! could be the best of the year.
hmmmm..from the snippets it sounds ok. need to hear the full version…one of the last tracks is a DRE beat…but it didnt sound special at all…i dunno…i dont think it will be a disappointment but not all that raekwon hyped it up to be..way to many tracks also….
sound pretty decent…but not really something I would cop
man this shit sounds boring real talk i loove hip hop but seriously man this sounds plain nothing that makes me damn wat he say n rewind. shit is weak. not hating!! niggas tell me one thing you heard that was str8 lyrically ill?????????? still coppin it tho hahaha
LOL…im glad you guys said it first. Im pretty sure its good lyrically but it really does sound boring.
Man Joe Budden is the truth. I need to get him on my album.
YEAH RAE HYPE THIS WAY TO UP I HAD THE IS NO WHERE NEAR THE PURPLE TAPE IM STILL COPPING THOE
I thought Catalina was going to have Buss on it, but whatever, dope regardless.
And I really can’t wait til’ for the Slick Rick track.
I mean, by Auditorium? He is still ill.
I still have my purple tape, in near mint condition.
I haevn’t even listened to all the leaks and snippets but I might pick this up off name value alone … and hope I don’t regret it.
sounds amazing from the snippets
WTF, yo this album sounds ill. Man I swear to god. I dont live in the states, so i pretty much dictate what I get exposed to. Judging from the comments above I see why there saying hiphop is dead or dying or just in a shitty place…Not lyrical?? Boring?? Are you kidding me, what I got from the snippets is that half the songs rae is telling stories! This kind of album is exactly what we need right now. So that people who record music half heartedly, and really aint sayin ish can be ashamed to put it out after hearing this.
smells like 95 …I like it.
i think it will grow on people.everyone kno rae is not the most interesting rapper and im a big intu wu bt if i had to listen 2 a whole album w just rae, i wouldnt nesecarily enjoy dat.butjus listinin to this u can tell sum time is put into the production.yall all about INTERESTING.”NOTHIN JUMPS OUT AT ME”yall niggas gotta look at this objectivley.i think ona tha reason is because music is so wateerd down.theres a million hip hop artists out there.we dont evn take tha time to listen to shyt anymore, let it settle in.we just check the blogs evryday 4 tha nxt mixtape or song that has a nice beat and sum rhymes, download it to tha ipod and put it in rotation 4 a few weeks.thats it.im jus born in 90, but im lookin at these comments and i think yall sum internet made hip hop heads.
why wasn’t criminology pt2 on the album?
this sounds so dope!
I thought I told u first shake in the las rae video u blogged.
anyway, I was looking forward to Catalina cos of the name alone but that sounds REALLY WACK. dunno wot dre was thinkin makin that beat, shouda been used on that wack relapse album.
but overall cl2 sounds good, maybe will get a 4/5. but I wont judge until I heard it all properly.
shit sounds amazing, production is crazy
“Pyrex Vision” uses an old O.C. beat from Jewelz, which is sick
and i didn’t realise that “Gihad” was a track that leaked like last last year called “Necro”
this sounds like it will be one of the best albums out for a long time
IM READY FOR THIS
“smells like 95. I like it”
thats the problem…its 2009….you need to change with the times
^Fuck that. 2009 music is trash.
That canal street joint is dope.
Ason jones is dope.
Sounds dope so far
WE WILL ROB YOU IS THE SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ mike times have already changed but it sucks so we wanna go back. lol.
what the fuck im talking about im 16 lmao
Sounds tight, but the beat from 10 Bricks was on that Jaylib album like 6 years ago. Its “The Red”
this is what we waited 4? I haven’t like Rae since he put out the first ob4cl. not 100% garbage but definitely not even close to a classic like it was hyped to be. i’m also not impressed by the beat selection. i hope i am wrong. these are snippets by the way.
^^
it hasn’t come out yet and you haven’t heard the songs properly so don’t be so critical
YO, THIS SHIT DOES SOUND DOPE!!!!!!
this shit is very nice its something about raekwon when i hear em i listen because dude tells a story and has a command in his voice that many dont have. that dilla beat was used shit was called “believe in god” all the other beats seemed new and were good i like the beats but there is room for improvment based on the snippets well let the the truth be told sept 8th
Goddamn fire!!!!! Should reign supreme for a long time…
“smells like 95. I like it”
thats the problem…its 2009….you need to change with the times

shut the hell up moron..wtf did you expect? a t-pain hook or a soulja boy verse?
J-Dilla HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Raekwon is the man. first Ghostface, now Raekwon shines some light on J-Dilla (RIP) Choosing all three tracks from the original tracklisting THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! with Pete Rock & Dr. Dre & Marley Marl & Alchemist & RZA & Eric Sermon & Scram Jones & BT & Allah Justice & Negro & ATL=CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man, this shit will be dope. Snippets don’t give u the full detail man, and I can tell it will take a few listens to get use to it. Honestly, the orignal cuban I didnt even like when I first heard it, but after a while I realized what rae was doing. Its a movie on lyrical tracks man. OBFCL is like one of my favorite all time albums in any genre!! This will be dope I can tell there is already some heaters. Stop hating ya’ll. For any1 that didnt come up on late 80′s early to mid 90′s hip hop wont get it. They never do….Its those people saying its boring….They were born in the 90′s lol.
IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE INTERSTING TO SEE RZA DO THE WHOLE THING
judging from the snippets this might be the best album he did outside of the original
A lot of these beats sound familiar.
I dont know what most of you guys listened to but i thought this sounded dope. the people hating must have accidently clicked on the Slaughterhouse link at the bottom of the page, cause that album will put you to sleep
anyone have the catalina radio rip its was just played on hot 97 a hour ago.
Black Mozart >>>>>>>>
[...] guess it’s snippets day at the dopehouse huh? Raekwon, Trey Songz and now the Mash Out Posse? Dope… shouts to Robbie on the [...]

about me & catalina are dre beats.
This sounds D-O-P-E!!! The first album will always be the classic and let it rest. This is definitely a huge step from where some of Rae’s projects have been since the first joint. Ghost on it will make me buy it regardless!!! Great post. GOD BLESS. SUPPORT on the 8th!! Peace
some of you people are fuckin idiots..
OB4CL2 is gon be the shit..
^^^ Co-sign.
sounds dope
Too many hipsters on here who’d rather listen to Cudi than Rae.
2 RZA produced tracks “Godfather” and “Rockstar” were both taken off?
I dont know if i believe Amazon
wait was all worth it… couldn’t have imagined it better!
It sounds vintage so I like it. If the snippets sound good enough after one listen that means the full album is gonna be real dope after hearing it a few times. I’m real hyped for this. & all the idiots saying he should change with the times for 2009 are prolly retarded.
I was born in 1990 but I can say that Hiphop in 1992-1998 >>>>>>>> than any other era so far. Fuck, even the early 2000′s had better music than now. Hiphop now is too bouncy & clean, I want that gritty New Yitty type shit to come back.
sounds dope… not too crazy about the beat selection even though a couple of them seem like they could grow on you.
Ive been fan of the Wu for a very very long time, but Rae has always been the one member that bored me to death. his voice just doesnt give me anything to work with. this is no different…
none the less the album sounds like quality
@Jeff I think “Godfather” became “Black Mozart”. They both feature Inspectah Deck and it has that Godfather kind of feel.
Beat for “Pyrex Vision” (whoa)
Oh shit Believe in God.
This is sounding fucking great.
no bullshit feat, no bullshit producers il don’t judge the snippet but the snippet sound hardcore and it’s really rare today, new reakwon, new ghost, new apathy, new reflection eternal, new pacific division, new slaugther house. Like jay z said ” anti autotune death of the ringtone” and the new jigga. it’s the comeback of raw hip hop.
Maybe it’s me but I can’t get the samples to play on Amazon, says “Sorry, there are no samples for this album.”
where did the samples go?
@novemberend you stupid son of a bitch….did i say put soulja boy on the hook to make it sound like a 2009 album? What you fuckers dont realize is that its not 1995. Music has changed and will always change..as an artist you must change with the times. Raekwon could have called kanye, timbaland, the runners etc for a more modern 2009 sounding album then a album that sounds like “a 1995 album”. frankly its boring. RAEKWON HIMSELF ADMITTED THAT THE REASON WHY THE WU ALBUM 8 DIAGRAMS FAILED IS BECAUSE OF RZA DOING THE ENTIRE ALBUM AND MAKING IT SOUND SO DATED. Him and other group members wanted to work with some of the newer producers to give them a more new sound….(kanye etc)…good music can still be made in 2009…and there are many artists who have proved that thus far….
i need to hear these beats in full.
It just does not feel like the original to me. It seems like a real nice album, but where is the sampling, repetition, and thematic, grimy cuts like the original.
Seems odd to say, but New WU, and Flying Daggers are the only tracks that sound that way, and Daggers is surprising because it has that vintage WU sound to it, but produced by DIlla.
Another point, IF they were going to put Gihad on here, they may as well have put State Of Grace on there, which is classic RZA and Rae cut.
the samples are no longer available
wonder why?

good music is good music. Who gives a fuck if it sounds like it’s from 2015 or 1936, if it’s good it’s good. I’d rather listen to some shit that has the vibe of a 1994 song and is GOOD than something trying hard to be “new” and sounding like ass.
Listen to Mayer Hawthorne….His music is straight up late 1950s doo wop coming out in 2009 and it’s great music.
It’s irritating to hear people on that “it’s not ____(insert date here) anymore” shit. Who exactly IS making “new” sounding hip hop (that’s good)? You know who is? Blitz The Ambassador, P.O.S., Eyedea & Abilities, Atmosphere, Deltron 3030, RJ-D2, etc. and I’m sure yall aint checkin for any of them.
Most of the new artists yall checkin for sound exactly the same as the last song on the radio or the last “underground sensation” and aren’t ACTUALLY that original at all, so please get off that “if it doesn’t sound like a Drake song or feature a 2dbz supported artist It’s not new and hip” shit.
Why the fuck did they do this snippets bullshit. . .
Definitely takes away from the best part of buying an album, especially one of this magnitude.
The album sounds pretty good so far. My only beef is he shouldn’t have had any Dilla production on the album. We all love dilla but there is 2 many cats that were around dilla that could of laced Rae with sum fire joints. like Ta’Raach, 14kt, Waajeed, Karriem Riggins. My only beef is most of us here have heard these dilla beats already on his beat tapes, and 4 me it wasn’t as exciting as hearing beats from some of the above producers i’ve named. In the future if people r going 2 use dilla beats, get beats that no one has heard before.
and that Pete Rock beat was used on PR’s NY’s Finest Album!
Tha Joint with Royal Flush
Rae’s tha truth. Anyone above needs to state prior to giving their opinions whether or not they thought any of the music released in the past year can be considered hip hop, and if you still like lil wayne or like drake at all. If any of those 3 things are true, your opinions void. Currensy is the only true old school rapper signed to young money and anyone bumpin his shit is good in my mind. Drake or Birthday sex lovers ditch that crap now before you expose your kids to the garbage you call hip hop. Foreign homey is right, the only people who find any of the new hip hop music is americans. I doubt a single person in Western Europe has any idea who Gucci Maine and for a good reason, his shits whack. I personally find an entertainment value to shit like Make tha Trap Say Aye but if you listen to his collab mixtape wit OJ da juice man 90% of it cannot be listened to without wondering wtf they were thinking. O n incase u didn’t realize this to start, if you don’t like wu-tang, don’t bother listening to their new stuff cuz they haven’t changed at all, still rhyming real shit. Cuban linx 1 = da truth. Cuban linx 2 should set the standard for hip hop and the game will only improve from their with Detox, new busta rhymes, more slaughterhouse (without the same stupid fight song bullshit they claimed was real but aint… at all…), and ofcourse probubly the one thing i look forward 2 most… the new snoop dogg album.
Fuck cats who download the beat tapes then complain shit is not new. Fucking bootlegger idiocy.

Saying that this is Boring is an example of a person who’s mind can’t grasp true visual artistry. Every song was like a story that takes you on an unexplainable ride. If you shut your mouth & open your eyes & ears, you might be able to learn something from these scholars of the spoken word.
over rated , i got respect for ra but this shit is same as before boring as bat shit been done a million times how many times can we hear ra same monotone rapid fire flow about cooking crack his stove top bagging it the slums staircases thats about it. he brings nothing new to the table i dnt knw what the hype is all about, its far from entertaining to long and u dnt find urself thinkig damnn what the fuck was that line…. same old shit this has to be the last WU installment they had a good run time for the curtains,
