Alright folks… the official tracklist has made it’s way to the internets (via Jay-Z.com). Comparing it to the rumored version, I’m excited to see J. Cole get a spot. Hopefully Nas will come through and still lace a verse for that Empire State of Mind joint. Hit the jump…

^^ I think thats the reason why Nas didn’t appear on Cuban Linx 2…. umm, Verbal Intercourse anyone?
Also, now that I think about it, Jay can NEVER do a song Today like QGTM and Underground. Thats why he has these nobody’s on his album cos he knows none of them will lyrically beat him.
And if anyone (sadly) is making a list of the times Jay has stole something from Nas then add Empire state of Mind to the list, cos its NY State of Mind part 4 basically, part 3 had Alica and Rakim remember.

Including Em would be way less of an achievement in the industry than including artists like ‘Ye or Cudder, you can look at this post & think the same low-par bullshit as the majority of commentors. He’s not losing flow; he’s gaining it. Artists like Jeezy, swizz & Pharrell are just included to keep it real, as i said….Jay knows exactly what he’s doing.

People need to stop bashing songs w/o listening to them. When they leak then you should have an opinion.
Theres no SLU part 2 because he remove the original SLU from his album. When he made DOA it would be stupid to have a song with autotune on the album.
really?? said this on August 18th, 2009 at 4:42 pm

That’s what I’ve been thinking this whole time. NY State of Mind with alicia, Rakim the God, and God’s Son. I’m afraid that “Empire State of Mind” will just be recycling the previous tracks.

I was really looking forward to that Nas feature. I’m ok with Jeezy. They got good chemistry together. Most of the features will be vocals and not rapping. I doubt that Drake/Cudi will be rapping. J. Cole will tho.
“can’t cheat death” was a blend from DJ Premier’s “Blow!” (I think) off of his instrumental album Beast That Collected Dust and Jay’s “Pray” from AG (I think it was Pray).
Thomas said this on August 18th, 2009 at 5:07 pm
“Hate” is gonna see the return of Autotune Ye haha cuz it was a leftover from 808′s. I’m also hoping that Swizz, Pharrell and Jeezy are only there for hooks. please
Marshall said this on August 18th, 2009 at 5:09 pm
I’m assuming no Em due to him preventing a Renegade v2.0, lolol. Although I’m questioning the Swizz Beatz and Jeezy features, the features seem solid. Glad J. Cole’s bout to get put on though
MikeDaooo said this on August 18th, 2009 at 5:09 pm
having an album full of features that is supposed to be a solo album is DEFINITELY a sign of laziness, not maturity.
A big Reason why RD, The Blueprint and The Black Album were such great albums is because they all had little to no features, which helped us focus on Jay-Z and nobody else, and that forced him to come with his A game
It wouldn’t seem so lazy the title was “Jay-Z presents….Roc Nation” and calling it a compilation album, but as a solo album where only 4 of the 15 songs are actually solo tracks, it’s pretty ridiculous (like what fab did).
Especially since this is a continuation of The Blueprint and not…say…a new beginning (like kingdom come)
Basically he attached “The Blueprint” to the album and set it for release 8 years after the original blueprint was released to build hype and make it not look like another kingdom come
JL said this on August 18th, 2009 at 5:11 pm
Personally i think this album has the chance to be dope as shit. People complain about stuff but i see the reasoning.
NO SLU? once he made death of autotune Hov would look real stupid putting that on there when he has people using auto-tune.
So many young guys? J. Cole is on Roc Nation, you guys were bitching when the first list came out and it didn’t have him on there but when the official comes and it does have J. Cole on there, you guys still bitch, SMH.
Drake? The guy has (arguably)the biggest buzz from a new-comer since 50 cent and the guy is dope (IMO) so this is a good business move.
Ye is Hov’s little bro so of course he’s gonna give shine to Ye’s label GOOD Music and you have Hudson doing a hook, Cudder with a guest verse. whats the harm in that?
I do agree there should be no swizz beats feature? dude fell off a while ago.
Jeezy? brings some of the street cred and has improved steadily on the mic.
Pharrell with a hook so again whats the harm?
Jay-z trying to being mainstream shine to new people, Nas and Em already got that respect so let him do him.
BP3 got me fully hyped, can’t wait to hear it.

Cole is gonna be the best feature on it and I do agree when niggas saying hes a more relevant Nas for our time. The Warm up was the fucking truthhh. I’m guessing the Nas track got cut cause hopefully they ain’t putting together another collab until the both come propper at the straight CLASSIC level. Their last few collabs were…eh. Same with a no Em track. I vote J Em and Nas spend the next month or so coming up with the best collabo in modern hip hop history and just shut it down as a bonus track or something. J. Cole for the win. Drake for the kinda win. Cudi is hit or miss for me but his last tape was dope.

hov is smart as shit he has next gen artists on his album so these younger kids flock to em. i think he should have little to no features. that really shows if an artists can hold his own for 10 + tracks he’s done it befofe but he knows all these features is bascally business
Im Just Saying said this on August 18th, 2009 at 6:10 pm
but em & nas should callab with jay one more time before they call it quits or if they do. shit get em all on a track and let dr dre produce. fuck it make an album with just them 3 and dre produce it all who wouldnt wanna hear that?
Im Just Saying said this on August 18th, 2009 at 6:13 pm
jesus, people blow this c-box up.. look people BP3 is gonna be a great album, you can’t deny that I have a blog and i’ve noticed mainstream rappers not dropping shit due to the fact run this town is even a single right now. Anyone that talks Sh about Jay-Z is just a hater point blank. He’s a mogul, musician is like the 4th thing on Jay’s list so the fact he was able to know it’d be dope to have Cudi, Drake AND J Cole even is enough said. It’s gonna be very good thing for Hip Hop whether you want to agree or not. I will definitely be BUYING a copy.

WTF… How can you judge an album off the damn tracklisting? You haven’t even heard the music and there is “Hate” all over the place. Yeah… that is alot of features, but that doesn’t make for a bad album. Wait to you actually hear the album. When did everyone become hiphop critics? STFU

I don’t understand all of these comments. I think at this point in his career, Jay-Z can pretty much do whatever he wants. He at least deserves that much, as an artist. Some of the comments on here are whiney and you know you will still listen to the entire CD anyway. He could have not released anything and then you would be complaining about how much you want another Jay album.

What’s with all this Lil Wayne crap? Even Lil Wayne fans should know that Wayne hasn’t been good since like 2004. I used to be a fan, but he fell off…and unless Jay was going to get a REAL verse from Wayne on some Drought 2 Type Ish, then he knew he need not apply.
Just like when we were talking about the Kid Cudi album the other day and people were saying it has a lack of features, I was saying that was great because you don’t want your album to end up looking like this. This sort of is like it’s a compilation album. But maybe that’s Jay-Z’s aim. He’s an older dude now…and this might be his last album. He wants to open the doors for this younger dude’s to be put on. I can feel that.
Either way, I’m going out to buy the album when it drops. Also, YouTube or Google it, I think he’s explained the reasoning for the three Red Stripes.
I’m certainly looking forward to the J.Cole collab, as well as the Drake collab, Almost Home w/Kid Cudi and Hate w/Ye.
It might turn out to be a great, great album.

Let the album drop then inform me if the shit was still wack…but like all the above “Haters” many will change thier mind.

I heard Nas is gonna be on “Empire State of Mind” but what happened? If anybody thinks Jay will put EM on a track w/ him again please do not hold your breath,He wouldn’t wanna be out shined twice!!! I dont see what you guys are complaining about, yeah not having Nas on Empire State of MInd is a little bit of a let down, but is that seriously gonna stop it from being a great album? And im pretty sure MGMT isn’t included as a feature artist because they probably are only supplying the instrumentals. And just because there are a lot of features doesnt mean they’re gonna be verses from everyone, the Cudi, Drake, Kanye, Mr Hudson, and Pharrell features could all possibly just be that person on the hook. And Im with Shake on the matter of the no Eminem feature, not only would another track from them probably not live up to the hype, but on another level it could make Renegade not as much of a gem as it is

Buy real hip hip and dont support jay-z’s biggotry he is a nigger in everysense he has no respect for african americans or anybody who isnt in his circle. He does not make music for the fans or for creativity he makes music to make money. I will be posting links for his album so nobody buys it and trust me it is a mockery of hip hop, his lyrics are far from lyrical and are mostly catered to bragging about his money, it lacks creativity and vision, it mocks and copies the Kanye 808′s & Heartbreaks sound and is a complete work of trash. Do not support this guy.

how the fuck can you guys determine whether or not an album is classic strictly based on the tracklist? Especially when all the guests are pretty good in their own respective ways. How about you wait up and make up your mind when the album drops?

Why is everyone going crazy like the Tracklist determines whether or not the album itself will be wack?
So he has J.Cole, Drake, and Kid Cudi, new blood yes, good choices? Possibly. Haven’t heard any of their verses on these songs, so they might have career defining moments for all any of us know (Think Kanye on “Never Let Us Down” way back when)
Or they could just be disappointments. Always that option, but I expect different considering they 3 dope artists in they own right, and I dont even like Kid Cudi that much.
As far as an Em collab, has anyone ever stopped to think MAYBE Hov just didn’t want an Eminem verse on here? People making it seem like the two are best friends and have multiple songs together in they catalogs lol, Renegade was classic, but neither one of them is obligated for a repeat performance.I’m a fan of Em but can yall let that man breathe wtf, if he aint on the tracklistin he dont even need a mention for real. When has Hov needed ANYBODY else to validate his OWN material, I mean some people complain that it’s to many feautures, and then others prefer if he went at it for dolo, lol just rate the music and fuck all the other shit.

It’s a tracklisting. It doesn’t matter how good or bad things are, in a tracklisting nothing looks that good or bad. Also, look at Can’t Tell Me Nothing. That featured young jeezy, but just his ad libs. Whos gonna say none of these features are like that? In a rap, features on just a hook do nothing to crowd the song or take away from the artist, so that argument is stupid.
Jay worked for like a year and a half on this. He knows what he’s doing, there’s no way it’ll suck with all the features bringing their A game no matter how big or small their part is.

My only problem is the fact that many albums nowadays have too many guest features. Both the labels and artists don’t seem confident that the artists can carry the weight of an album by themselves (which is most of the time the label’s fault).
C-C said this on August 18th, 2009 at 10:20 pm
Sorry everyone, but Cudi and Drake get more airplay than Nas and Em do these days, and they’re doing it with quite legitimate skill (unlike the majority of what gets on the radio). What makes these newcomers so exciting is that they have some serious talent and intelligence and are really challenging the current popular hip hop music with it. Like, look at the VMAs this year… Cudi, Drake and Asher are nominated for Best New Artist. That’s like what, the first time EVER that the majority of the nominations have been rappers? I know that’s kind of a lame example, but these kids ARE changing not only popular hip hop music, but popular music in general. Jay-Z knows this. Jay-Z knows what he’s doing.
go2hell said this on August 18th, 2009 at 10:24 pm

I’m disappointed to see Nas was not on Empire State of Mind. From the original tracklist leak I was majorly hyped for that joint. Hope they still do it together as originally planned. Should be a good album though on the whole.

Brandon, how old are you man?
I hope you’re not some old cat who doesn’t want to embrace new music. I told you if people don’t start embracing new hip hop, the genre will die because everybody is so over-critical now. Kid Cudi is an artist…he raps and things like that, but he can make songs. He’s unique. Why do cats want to hear the same old thing.
And anyone saying Drake isn’t a rapper should jump off a cliff. I mean, I rocks with him now on his music, but I sort of wish he never got affiliated with Young Money, because I’m feeling cats who are just now getting on his music think that some of this more poppy stuff is all Drake can offer. Please got download his “Room For Improvement” and “Comeback Season” mixtapes from 2006 and 2007. The guy can actually rap.
The Cudi, Drake and J.Cole collabs should be the best ones!
Stop the comparisons and just enjoy good music. Sheesh!

You never know alot of the guest spots might be hooks Alicia Keys is listed and you know she’s on the hook she ain’t rappin..lol and Drake sings too so you never know….plus why even put Em or Nas on it when everybody just be quick to say they killed him on his on shit thou no one does that when other rappers get killed on they shit…Anyway it goes its better than the other stuff out
chris said this on August 19th, 2009 at 7:28 am
In all seriousness:
Why Kid Cudi, but no Young Chris?
No Common (there’s already 3 – count them, 3 – artists from Kanye’s label, GOOD Music on here: Kanye, Kid Cudi and Mr Hudson)
No Jadakiss? (who he signed to Def Jam/Roc-A-Fella and is a Roc Nation affiliate?)
No Nas? Why not a “Get Em High” / ” Just To Get By” Part Two track with Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Common and Jay?
This is really disappointing. I’m a middle class, biracial 23-year old who was raised in Boston and Southern California, I am not a thug and I didn’t grow up in Brooklyn. This doesn’t appeal to “my” demographic because he’s trying too hard to make it…trendy. I hate this track listing and I’m a huge Jay fan.

Oh god this list looks BUNK. Looks like the dude just read hypemachine. Empire of the Sun? Seriously HOV? What the fuck are you thinking man you don’t need to cater to the pitchfork/blog crowd, dude.
To the dude above that said Cudi ain’t built for the game–gotta agree. I don’t see him having any longetivity whatsoever. Kid Cudi had one good idea with Day N Nite and, frankly, it wasn’t even his own idea. Crookers put him on the map. Someone tell me what this guy is gonna rap about after his stoner/loner/man on the moon trope wears thin?
Would have loved to see Jay link up with Gucci on a track…at least that would have been somewhat interesting.
