i still got the rest of my family with me. we’re gettin’ thru. i’m just shocked that all this keeps happening. it’s like we can’t go a week without losing somebody.
@who cares…
Baatin was an original member of Slum Village. These incarnations with Elzhi (nothing against Elzhi) aren’t “the real” SV, to me. Baatin has always been one of my favorite m.c.’s & this deeply saddens me. RIP. Does anyone know what happened?
The Slum Village fam, JD, all grew up in the same place as I did. So they are all my homeboys for real. The music was so great that it touched real folk around the world. I left the D when I lost two innocent people who were close to me. I just wish that we could do better concerning how we are with one another.
i am simply out of fucking words. sry for cursing. i cant believe it. i come to the site and this is like a knock out punch for me.
i am in germany, constantly bumping slum joints and sometimes i get really sad when thinking about dilla…now this..wow…imma smoke my ass off 2night….let me stop here before i start crying for real.

RIP to baatin. when i saw him live in boston a few weeks ago there was something odd about how he was on stage… he didn’t seem quite right but i wasn’t sure why.
These days you really dont know if your going to make it through the day. I mean, you can’t even sleep with your girl without worries of her puttin 4 shots in you.
Wow, this really shook me up. Sad day for hip-hop, really is. Rest in peace, you will truly be missed. Condolances to every hip-hop fan, friends and family.
As for the people asking how he died. I do not want to start any rumors or nothing. But fact was he was struggling with bipolarity and depressions for a long time, one can only assume this had a lot to do with it. Again, I’m just assuming.
wooooow… RIP Baatin… I will definitely be playing some classic Slum tonight. smh, Meka is right yo, this summer just hasn’t been good at all. *lighter in the air for all those who ain’t here*
Baatin and I did a song in ’07 that I haven’t released yet. I will have it our very soon though. This is one of his last solo records and he also addresses some of the Slum issues on the joint. RIP to my man TITUS…Rasool Wasi
on some real shit,
Baatin was prolly th coldest in Slum.
i would say Dilla in all respect but it’s hard not to
have a superior flow over beats you compose.
but Baatin had a niche giving the track “grace” all while
letting the beats and melodies complement his style.
R.I.P. to all our fallen soldier. he, as the rest,
shall be missed.
ill tell you why he died, because of Obama. i watched this video on youtube and then i googled a bunch of conspiracy theories and basicly it has led me to conclude that Obama is responsible for this. Hope? hope for what? fot you to kill all the rappers we bump? jeez.
DAM I was listening to Slum Village da other day, RIP Baatin
U kno wits da sad thing is dat MTV Jams aint gon play no Slum Village vids in memory of him smh
RIP. Look around your neighborhoods folks, the same people aren’t there, some of them moved to a nicer block, a couple of them moved to the big city in the sky. People die rapidly, consistently, they never stop, and because its a celebrity, let’s not act like its the most shocking news everytime someone passes. Just appreciate their lives while they live, give them their respect after, and don’t dwell on the inevitable.
One of COTNs biggest influences.. Sending love and condolences to Titus Glover’s family, Slum Village and Detroit. We love y’all and baatin had die hard fans like me. Him rejoining was so huge to me, and I’d been waiting for the day to see a reunion for years. Me and the dudes were elated to find NYC radio bumpin Fantastic 2 last night, and as I sat in the back seat, I was thinking how this death makes me appreciate the living even more. Every influence a person has on your life. The everyday people, don’t take advantage of anything. Everything you appreciate, appreciate to the fullest. Baatin, I had hoped we would one day meet, being my favorite member of the Villa. But now the connection only remains in the spiritual, through the music. Niggas like us will carry on your legacy through beautiful music.
This sucks so bad. All I have in my head now is “Somebody said that radio would never ever playSome of that detroit, motor city for play”- Get Dis Money. This man was dope. R.I.P. man…
wow this was so random..i was just listening to elzhis verse about bat…its crazy man..rip for real to all whove left us and peace and blessn to their families we pray god make u strong and have mercy on us all…
R.I.P. Baatin…We must stay true to underground hip hop. It is the foundation. Yes, once Hip Hop was real, now it is rap. We have to stay true to it. Slum Village is and will always be part of the authentic foundation of hip hop. Baatin…you will live on regardless of how you left us.
For those who didn’t know man, Baatin was going through some shit man, he was battling some schizophrenia issues and all that, so the times was rough for him…..this was the main reason he took a leave from the group.
