J. Cole talks with Angela Yee about the first time he met Jay-Z and the master plan he had to get on American Gangster. The story is told above, and if you hit the jump… he performs the track he wrote/produced in hopes of placement on Hov’s AG.

That hook was pretty shitty. Rest of the track (verses, beat) was dope, but it may have been a good thing that Jay didn’t hear that beat with the hook cuz it was wack.
to be honest….this was dope…but jay wouldn’t have used it even if it was prolly Jesus himself on the beat….
Lupe and Juelz already killed this sample…so as dope as this sounds…this would be widely considered as just another beat that Jay would have “bit” from other rappers and shit.
I know people will say I’m jumpin the gun. But I see pure greatness in J.Cole. His delivery, the content of his material, the way he flows with the beat. I think not only will he eventually catch onto the masses, but he’ll be around for a long time. I mean the Warm-Up is one of my favorite new albums to listen to(yes album, because it’s way to good to be considered a mixtape).
@NotFromTheVilleButIFucksWithJCole!, stole the words right outta my mouth…J. Cole is you and your moms future favorite rapper, this dude is gonna be in the game for a long time and have a lasting impact, for the material he wrote for a quote unquote “mixtape”, which is probably the best material from anyone to be released this year, shit’s classic, plus he got Hov backin’ him and he does his own production..Plus he has good stage presence. J. Cole, Kid Cudi, Wale, B.o.B., and Drake are the leaders of the new school, also look out for Phil Ade, that’s another name you’re all about to start seein’..
this got me to relisten to failure for the first time in a good minute…… really hope lupe comes back with it on lasers……oh yeah really liking what j.cole is doing also

That was failure, just like the Lupe song that also uses this beat
That track

Although the sample had already been used… I thought it was pretty dope.

It’s not the same as failure if you listen closely, drake, and lupe both got on failure
