P.SO x Guitar Hero (Video)

P.SO the Earth Tone King (Formerly P.CASSO) makes a breakthrough in the world of Hip-Hop sampling! P.SO and fellow DJ SOSA NYC figured out a way to use the XBOX 360 Guitar Hero (c) Video Game controller to trigger Hip-Hop samples! This is the FIRST TIME this has ever been done in Hip-Hop! Check it out as Sosa and P.SO chop up tracks like Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” and “Grindin’” by the Clipse!

  1. I was doin this months ago. Using my Guitar Hero drum kit to play live drums on my tracks.

  2. anyone know nething bout the hov single?? apparently its droppin friday and is called “run this town” wit rihanna and kanye
what happened to drake being on the first single?

  3. *rolls eyes* this isn’t “sampling” using guitar hero…it’s midi triggering and people have been doing that with guitar hero for awhile…pffft fail

  4. this has been done, nothing revolutionary…
cmon guys! check youtube first before you post this

  5. LMAO @ Fes,

    Eager to deflate my balloon?
I wrote “sanple” in the title because most people don’t know what “midi triggering” is. I wrote “trigger samples” in the description. You’re right, I’m probably not the first person on earth to do this, but I’m the first HipHop artist that I KNOW OF (emphasis on I know of) to do it and incorporate Guitar Hero triggering into live performance.

  6. In hindsight I probably should have done my youtube research. I’m aware of people using different controllers for midi (i.e. shoe pads, steering wheels). When I experimented with Guitar hero, It was the first time I’d heard of it being done. Nothing new under the sun, especially with technology.

  7. I hate when people make instructional videos and say “There’s some secrets in order to make it work, but I’m not going to tell you how to do that”… What the hell is the purpose of making the video for if you’re not going to explain things in depth?!

  8. @BrooklynsOwn I didn’t want to waste the extra 10 minutes it would take explaining all of the technical details. There is a program called JunXion that interprets midi samples through USB. I used that as an intermediate between Guitar Hero and Reason.

  9. Some of you people are straight up assholes. I thought it was pretty (2)dope

  10. Dudes Major Late
Been Doing This Since The Rock Band Came Out With USB Controllers

  11. @ P.So – Sometimes the stuff we feel we need not include and vital. It’s like getting furniture from Ikea with no english instructions, lol.
