Wiz Khalifa Leaves Warner Bros…

After constant delays for his debut album, The Khalifa Man has left WB. Gotta love how the labels fuck up things for artists. He signed in 2007, and had a Top25 hit in Say Yeah, but nothing was done. Hopefully this will lead to him going independent or maybe joining Spitta on Amalgam? Who knows…

The rest of 2009 is set to be a busy one for Wiz. He will immediately be dropping a new single Teach U To Fly, a mixtape entitled How Fly with New Orleans MC Curren$y, and another solo mixtape to follow up his critically acclaimed Flight School for the Fall. Wiz is currently touring the country on his Orientation Tour with remaining stops in Alabama, Ohio, Atlanta, Florida, St Louis, and ending July 31st in his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. Wiz is also set to headline a cross-country tour in the Fall.

Wiz adds, “I’d like to thank Warner Bros. for understanding our reasons for wanting to leave.  I learned a lot during my time there and matured as an artist during the process. I’m happy to be moving on with all of my material and having the chance to be in control of my next moves.”

  1. Props to Wiz.

On a sidenote.. is this also the reason why we ain’t heard nothin from Blu lately? Wasn’t his album due to drop this summer? Any confirmation or info would be appreciated Shake.

  2. how’d i know this was gunna happen. You had a dope single, dope mixtapes afterwards, but no album. WB shoulda done some better promo I feel.

    AMALGAM!!!!

  3. ALABAMA!!

  4. @Cesc. Oh yeah. Almost forgot he got signed. Yo, if it takes him another 6 months to work on his album, let him. That way, we get really dope material from him. Blu stay consistent.

  5. 412 muzik!!! Cant wait for that Taylor Gang x Jets tape!!!

  6. I woulda left to man signed in 07?
he shoulda droped an album at least in 08 early 09 latest
record labels will jerk you & yea Blu needs to drop something asap

  7. Damn…I aint know son was coming to bama..SMH. I coulda went :(

  8. How are big labels still fucking things up? When they gonna learn….

  9. Wasnt Millz signed to them? Did he ever drop…they signed Gucci Mane..

  10. The only group of people more incompetent than banking CEO’s are record executives. 10 years after Napster, the industry continues to rely on the archaic notion that an album cannot be released without the perfect storm combination of a top 40 hit (or 2) with 4-5 months of heavy promotion, media hype and anticipation. The sad thing with Wiz is he had that top 40 hit, but I’m guessing Warner freaked out that he wasn’t a household name and told him to make another “Say Yeah” as if making a hit record was like making a grilled cheese sandwich. I’ll never understand the logic of making an investment in something (or in this case someone) and then going out of your way to make sure you get no return on said investment, i.e. no album.
At least from the sound of the statement he gets to keep his WB recorded material, and hopefully some of that advance money.

  11. Yeah I agree, Blu still gonna come with dopeness. I’m sure I heard this summer it was coming? Dude used to put out a couple of tracks a month at least, guess I’m just having withdrawal symptoms lol.

On the real though good to see Wiz will be on the grind again. I will be back to talk about Blu when the post is about Blu, lmao. Sorry Wiz.

  12. wont miss a beat, everything a label can provide he can do for himself right about now. very savvy and intelligent artist that markets himself well naturally. i think the fun starts here for Wiz
