  1. Is it me or is reference track just like, ghost writing. I love Dre songs as much as anyone but for a genre that is so pro originality, why is Dre loved so damn much given that its known that he gets most of his shit ghostwritten.

  2. I guess because of his influence and music. Although he isn’t writing the songs himself he would always deliver and bring great music.

  3. @Adder

Yeah I mean, I really enjoy Dre’s music and even him rapping but knowing that he doesn’t write his own stuff I would never consider him one of the best rappers ever. But it is usually written well by whoever, so I enjoy it.

  4. sharebee fail, usershare rules all.

  5. detox gon go so hard…shit is tuff

  6. Lol I definently don’t consider Dre as one of the best rappers ever. A dope ass producer yes but he is no contest for that title when he doesn’t write his own lines.
Does anyone know of a song that Dre did by himself without any ghostwriter assistance?

  7. @o’dog

agreed but my internet is going slow as FUCK for some reason and its taking some time to re-up. i hate when this shit happens.

  8. His production makes up for not writing his own raps.

Unlike a certain bad boy mogul.

  9. Exactly what I’m seeing. I was listening to 2001 the other day to test out my new headphones and sonically it’s fucking incredible, the beats, lyrics, and the mastering. It’s just tough to know that, while his delivery of the lyrics is on point, it’s not necessarily his own work. Then again with an album like Detox, the hype is so big that the best of the best in hip-hop is working to make it a masterpiece for him. It’s almost as if he’s trying to be the voice of the genre as a whole. Bittersweet.

  10. dope

  11. Kal, how does having a ghostrider take away from being a great producer? i’d rather hear him spit royce’s (especially) lines than his own if he can’t write well enough.

  12. His raps are an afterthought, I would think everyone knows that. Why are these “reference track” better than anything by writer?

  13. Hahaha. So true. I love Luda but this shit is doper than his usual shit. And having a ghostwriter doesn’t take away from being a great producer but part of being a ‘rapper’ is writing your own shit. If today it came out that Nas had a ghostwriter for Illmatic, the ensuing shit storm would be unprecedented. 2001 was amazing not JUST because of the production, but because of the songs as a whole including the lyrics. Knowing those lyrics are not his own, to me, take away a little something. As a whole though, I can’t complain because the music itself is sick.

  14. Dre has always said he wants to be the best producer…. not rapper.. damn who thinks that anyways ?

  15. Who’s the girl? Better than anything on this page so far including the song lol.

  16. Dre has always said he is the best producer… not rapper.. damn who thinks that anyways

  17. Dreeee

  18. you people are fuckin idiots..

  19. reference track for Dr. Dre = understandable
reference track for lil wayne = unacceptable

    my 2 cents
    :)

  20. well. it’s not like he produces ALL of his own stuff though. See Mel Man. It’s an interesting situation.

  21. you people are fuckin idiots..

more specifically @ Kal @ Tommy

  22. Damn this shit is dope. Ready for that Detox this year.

  23. @shake, no worries man, shit happens and i know you usually usershare shit, so i thought something was up.

  24. man this beat is bonkers

    luda dat nuggggaaaa

  25. I thought everybody already knew that dre doesnt write his own shit. Its not like he’s ever tried to hide it

  26. Dre has never wrote his own shit, it’s pretty much common knowledge. Comparing him to Nas & shit like that is absolutely ridiculous. Again, his raps are an afterthought, just somethin’ to add flavor to his tracks (which generally include 1 or more of the dopest rappers on the planet).

  27. If today it came out that Nas had a ghostwriter for Illmatic, the ensuing shit storm would be unprecedented. 2001 was amazing not JUST because of the production, but because of the songs as a whole including the lyrics.

    ================================================================

Nas wasn’t known for production though. It’s not the same thing.

As for 2001, I disagree. Aside from the guest appearances, the lyrics were okay but nothing spectacular . The beats really kept that cd afloat.

  28. you people are fuckin idiots..

more specifically @ Kal @ Tommy

awwww TeGo, is Dre your favorite rapper!? I’m sorry faggot.

  29. I don’t think you can call lyrics an ‘afterthought’ when it comes to rap. If it were, he wouldn’t have the dopest guys in the game writing his lyrics. If they were, he would just stick to producing and make beats for those dope ass rappers. My point is it says SOMETHING, not everything, but SOMETHING to be said about a rapper who don’t write. I guess I’m saying that something. The fact that’s it’s common knowledge or that he doesn’t try to hide it doesn’t take away from that fact.

  30. don’t really give a shit about the whole ghostwriter shit, I just fucking want this detox shit to drop already. dude’s just pushing the joint back more and more everytime a reference track leaks. feels like I’ll be a fuckin old man by the time this shit comes out…literally.

  31. This is one of my favorite dre verses

  32. ^ @ Tego http://apina.biz/18000.gif

  33. wait……so this is gonna be a song by dr. dre……that isnt dre rapping its ludacris….someone explain wtf is going on

  34. Oh great another reference track. Detox just keeps on getting pushed back and you wonder the fuck why. This track isnt even going to make the album now.

  35. ny… in a final version dre would be rapping it… luda wrote it sound he is showing dre how they lyrics are meant to be rapped…

    and this is fucking unreal

  36. :lol at luda rapping like Dre

  37. @CESC
Please tell me your fucking joking that you don’t know who that is

  38. Has anyone even thought that maybe these leaked references are MEANT to come out meaning a throw away to keep us tuned in for Detox??? Dre has so many fucking artists working on this shit. I swear people need to calm the fuck down with this “Detox is getting pushed back again” bitching.

  39. Not the greatest song but it’s dope. I prefer the “This is Detox” track, its so dope.

  40. Beat is produced by J.Cardim…follow his at twitter.com/jcardim or myspace.com/jcardimmusic

  41. not feeling

  42. not really feeling it

  44. Dr. Dre is quite possibly the worst rapper… ever .. and a mediocre producer, never really saw what the big deal about him was

  45. @vamosarapiar lol fam I didnt mean that it hinders Dre from being considered one of the best producers ever, he certainly is, but it does stop Dre from being considered one of the best rappers ever.

  46. @ Bobby Boucher
So if Dre’s not that great than who is? I’m not the biggest Dr. Dre fan in the world but I can acknowledge the FACT that he he’s a great producer. Need I make a list of his classic productions?

  47. WTF is WRONG WITH YALL?! THAT IS NOT DR.DRE RAPPING!!! Are yall Idiots?! It’s LUDACRIS RAPPING AS IF HE’S DRE! Yall talking bout Dre rapping when it’s Not Even Him!!! Are Yall Slow?!?!?! SMH… yeah, he’s saying everything Dr.Dre would say but that is LUDACRIS rapping the ENTIRE WAY THROUGH.

  48. dunno this is shit. bring some more bishop lamont

  49. not a real Dre Reference track….this is off “Trap Music Summer Edition” mixtape from Gucci Man….

  50. [...] Right here is newly leaked reference track from Ludacris for Dr. Dre and his forever up and coming album Detox. I’m not someone to down producers for having ghost writers, but this is a pretty blatant showcase of the good Doctor’s rapping process and it just gives away the mystery. It’s a decent track… so you be the judge. Props to 2D. [...]

  51. stop bitching for once and just listen

  52. This is nice!!! Luda is that dude. As far as Dre writing his own material, who cares? He delivers the verses excellently; so, maybe more rappers need ghostwriters. Let’s face it, many, many, many have came and went and Dre is still here. He is doing something right. Nice post

  53. DRE DIDN’T PRODUCE THIS EITHER…ITS PRODUCED BY J. CARDIM

    http://nahright.com/news/2009/07/11/ludacris-ogs-theme-detox-reference/

  54. these demos are the best way to sell your lyrics to Dr Dre. Instead of just sending the lyrics, you can do that track. That’s what Luda did here, nothing more, nothing less. The same reason why Nino Bless had a referece track for detox even though Dre probably doesnt know who he is

  55. @ D. Fresco…How ironic. apparently YOU are the slow one. Although it is ludacris rapping on it, it is a REFERENCE TRACK. Meaning it is what dre. is going to be saying if he used the track. If you do your research, you can fine reference tracks floating around from everyone from T.I., Nino Bless, Eminem, etc. All of whom are speaking from the Dre’s perspective.

  56. doesn’t Dre have ghostPRODUCERS also ???

    *runs*

  57. @ 91&Up
…Come to think of it, what does Dre actually do anymore other than rap other peoples lyrics? Funny. Most of his beats are all by other cats like Khalil, Hi-Tek, Nottz, Focus, Jake-One, etc. I’ll take that lineup anyday, though!

  58. @JJ
Nah sorry I really don’t lol. Who’s the girl??

  59. I’m guessin it must be Ciara.. she looks different though if it is her.

  60. its aiiight…

  61. That’s Ciara.
The track sounds eh. I really can’t judge until I hear Dre actually spitting it.

  62. disapointed….even the beat isnt original…either focus or black milk used the same notes and instrument in the same way…only takes arranging to make this beat…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDjrNkV2wTI

  63. nevermind …i might be going too hard on the good doctor ^_^

  64. Dre won’t be spitting. He didn’t on the others.

  65. anyone got a list of the detox reference tracks?
    prophet – its like that
crooked i – say dr. dre
    ti/nas – topless
    ti – shit popped off
    ti – this is detox
    this – coming back
    nino bless – untitled
    luda – OGs theme

    missing any?

  66. *this – coming back
    = ti – coming back

  67. to be honest im looking more forward to Drakes album than i am to Detox…no love lost for Dre tho!

  68. eff that
