Damn… I know I wasn’t the only one sitting there upset at the world, when Drake interrupted this joint on Comeback Season to say that he hadn’t paid for the beat so we couldn’t hear the rest of the song (aka Elzhi’s verse). Well — thanks to Heinz (via FWMJ) — now we can! Very dope way to finish off the night!

So i guess he finally paid 9th for the beat? lol

dope
either that or Heinz figures its a good look for 9th now! Lol since Drake is now the biggest thing since…[lil wayne carter and dedication (matter of everything), nas illmatic, tupac, bar exam 2] Lol
(i meant matter of fact everything) lol the hood loves lil wayne
Damn this joint was hot, although I don’t care for Drake whatsoever. All I could think about during his verse was what Elzhi was gonna spit lol.
Why Drake jockin Phonte’s flow on this???
Daaaaaaaaaamn! I forgot about this. First time I heard that “Sweet Love” sample, I spazzed. I know the full track is SICK!
I loves this song last year, glad to hear the full track. Elzhi> Drake> Phonte. In this song alone. Of subject: can we get an Eminem, Elzhi collab???? Produced by Black Milk. Hmmm.. Detroit represent.
where the fuck is elmatic?!
crazy…
“Why Drake jockin Phonte’s flow on this???”
——————————————————————-
Phonte’s his favorite MC. He’s probably a bit influenced by him as far as flow goes. I’d rather him jock Phonte’s flow than Waynes any day.
Drake can afford that anita baker sample to be cleared
drake go fukin hard mehn
been waitin on this for a minute. elzhi always reps good for the D. the wordplay was amazing
Yeah he does rep hard for the D ! D be underrated as far as hiphop hubs ? ! Alot of talent there
where you think drake got singing from? i dont know if thats true. but he did say in a track phonte is his favorite rapper. and he said in an interview a lot of rappers need to strfu with the singing. it cant be done by everyone. phonte does a good job though (not a quote. but a quote)
straight ill….
enough said
I don’t really pay any attention to Drake, but this joint has got me nodding, real nice, 9th Wonder!
One of my favorite joints off that mixtape/album. I thought this day would never come. Does this mean he paid 9th for the beat?
Damn I was JUST thinking about this. Gave Comeback Season a spin a couple days ago and was wondering if this was ever gonna be finished. Good stuff Shake. Hopefully he keeps this flow for his album.
People saying that they don’t pay attention to Drake, I think you guys better start. I’ve been on the “bandwagon” since the 2006 “Room For Improvement” Mixtape dropped (which is my favorite Drake tape of all time BTW). I actually hope to hear more joints like this on the debut. Drake mentioned that Phonte was his favorite rapper and he seemed quite Little Brother influenced a few years ago. I’m not at all hating on the Wayne influence and the newer style, but I think this classic style of his is him at his best. Introspective, fresh flow over soulful beats. Let’s hope some of this resurfaces on “Thank Me Later”.
Other than Kanye West, I say 9th Wonder is my favorite producer. His sound is unique and authentic, though I think he needs to stick to his old style of beat making. FL Studio was good to him…lol
im not gonna be all ‘hey i was into his music b4 us ass’ , but ive definitely waited for this track for a long timee, and elzhi got me hyped, definitely dope
Nice to hear the full version finally.
@Musikfiend: I thought the same thing when I first heard it. lol
im not gonna be all ‘hey i was into his music b4 us ass

Point? I was just expressing that I listened to dude. Why do people comment just to hear themselves type?
So happy this track is out. Me and my dudes always wanted to hear the full version. Always dope to hear Elzhi on anything he is dope. The Preface was in constant rotation all last yr and still gets play from me. I agree with Young Son. 9th needs to go back to that classic feel. But that Sweet Lord w/ Murs was firew last year. But lately 9th has been hit or miss. I used to be like 8 or 9 out of 10 9th beats were dope. now like 5 of 10. I hope drake goes back to this feel some on his album. I wish he would have Phonte on it. Phonte needs some national love he is so dope and multi versitle. He spits dope, sings cool he just is dope on tracks. I always wondered why he is so underratted. Comeback Season still my favorite thats when I was like drake is dope. On Room For Improvement I was like he is cool but when Comeback Season dropped i was like man dude is real dope. comeback seaosn was on constant play. Thats how i feel with J.Cole. His first mixtape was dope but i was ok. then with The Warm Up I was like ok this is that dude its even better than his first tape.
take drake off of this track and its fire.
To Chef: EPIC FAIL.
drake is wack as hell on here
9th didn’t come very hard either
thank god for the phonte and elzhi features..

anybody else having troubles wit usershare today?
i been waitin for dis shit since i first heard dis on comeback season like 2 years ago… i was hott az hell wen he cut it off lol
i just put it out to put it out since i haven’t posted on rappersiknow.com for a while, so i sent it to FWMJ real quick…*shrugs* there was no intent to give shine to 9th because of Drakes buzz, if anything to give the doubters of Drake another side of him you tend to forget.
some of yall are acting like u haven’t heard this song lol it was on the damn mixtape all that is different is the Elzhi verse. *shrugs* so i don’t know get “paying for the beat” means when he already released the track on hi smixtape…
anyways, i got more older shit from D but i won’t release most of it till i get the OK from him or Oli. This just made sense to “leak” tho
Nice to see Drake linking up with Mr. Coleman and Elzhi on this one, I too was anticipating it since i heard it on Comeback Season…. From the days I used to peep Degrassi on the regular, which is where I found out he spit in the first place, to here, he’s come quite a long ways, but i hope he doesn’t let weezy taint his career, so far he’s done pretty well.
You guys are tripping off the sample MF Doom used it on MM Food….
IDK why but i expected more from elzhi…his flow threw me off a bit =/…
i guess i’ll download this
MF Doom didn’t smash it hard enough. MF Doom, IMO (keep that in mind, I said IMO) is the most overrated underrated rapper, if that makes any sense. Like, people love him cuz he’s real hip hop and different and all of this stuff, but if you just listen to homey straight up with no bias, he’s not that great. A lot of rappers aren’t that great, just because they’re underground. But heads tend to put them on a pedestal just because they aren’t mainstream.
Young Son well said
Drake w/ Lil Wayne = falling off
Drake w/ his “REAL”/underground style + heartbreak style = fucking classic shit
Unxpekted…wtf is a heartbreak style lmao…
This track is hot, I could dig it with just phonte and elzhi on it but drake fits well. Can’t fuckin wait for elmatic or the feed / any other projects elzhi is fucking with right now. and as whack I think mf doom is for the whole fake concert fuckery hes better technically than the likes of drake just stop with that. Found it funny that the guy who took the “I heard it first attitude” then states that it’s out of bounds to only like artists. for being against the mainstream. Both of those ideas are just as stupid as the other
I would say “Heartbreak Style” is the joints like on “SO FAR GONE” that he was singing on, such as “Lust For Life”, “Houstatlantavegas” and “Say What’s Real”
Oh, “Successful” as well.
Basically the non-Wayne sounding joints that sound more original and introspective.
This was the first I heard of Drake also, except I heard it on the “Getback Army” discs from Little Brother/JL. For the record; until So Far Gone came out I had no idea I had even heard this – I just started looking back for other stuff.
In witch album did this track appears?
Its a very good song.
I like this.
See, I’m not a Drake hater.
Drake matched Phonte’s flow to go with the beat.. and he killed it!
Cant wait for his next LP produced by 9th wonder!
