Auto-Tune, not taking DJ Webstar seriously, touring, how he wants Kobe to get his ring (which he will), the Nets break ground (in Brooklyn) this September, his personal top 5 (Biggie, 2pac, Scarface, Eminem & Andre 3000), how Lauryn Hill is the GOAT of female MCs. And last but not least; Jay reveals that Kanye isn’t handling the complete production on Blueprint 3 and that Timbaland has a few joints as well. Shouts to RR for the audio.

He coulda swapped out Face or Pac for Nas, but this is the political, appeasing all regions/audiences answer. Nothing against Face or Pac, though. They’re obviously legends. But you’ll notice that every one of the dudes he mentioned either preceded Jay with their careers or have consistently outsold him and have a distinct fan base he doesn’t necessarily . Jay’s very smart. He’s not going to overtly praise his immediate competition, dudes that move in the same lane as him, like Nas, T.I. or Ghostface. Two of his favorites are dead. I believe these kinds of answers are very well thought out beforehand.

T.I or Ghostface in the same lane? ghost is dope as is ti but naw……it could be said that jay z really respects face as a rapper, they have linked up a few times and made classic music. face said when he retired the only person he would come back and do it an album with is jay and beans. if it was something about competition he wouldnt have said pac (or does the being dead thing trump that). maybe he really doesnt feel nas is in his top five. despite them being cool now he still feels confused on the topic and the message nas is trying to put across… maybe he still doesnt know if a black girl is lost or if shorty owes for ice. and thats why nas is his number 6
