A (2)Dope Battle: NR vs Jansport J (Submissions)

Dopeboyz and dopegirlz, the submissions for the 2nd 2DBz Beat Battle are in! They we’re actually submitted on Sunday but I couldn’t find the time to post on Monday. In case you didn’t see the set up post. Jansport J is up against NR (who won the first battle). The task at hand was to flip Suzanne Vega’s Tom’s Diner (which can be heard here). Once again I’ve uploaded both beats as “Beat 1″ and “Beat 2″. There will be a vote from myself, a vote from Meka, a collective vote from the NMC and a vote from the c-boyz/girlz. In an event of a tie, we will go another round. Good luck to both producers…

  1. beat 2

  2. I know a certain someone who sampled “Tom’s Diner” for a track off his upcoming album….

  3. Whoa…this is dope that “Tom’s Diner” was the subject.

I have a mixtape joint out called “Tha Diner” over the original song.

Shake or Meka, you guys should take a listen and possibly give it a post if you were feeling it.

    Thanks.

BTW, I think “BEAT 2″ is the freshest one! Smooth.

  4. Neither are great but I’ll give it to beat 2

  5. number 2 for me i expected a little better tho

  6. Beat 2 by far

and Young Son that was pretty dope dude.

  7. Beat 2 mos definite

  8. Beat 2…

Beat 1′s sampling was too loud, imo.

  9. beat 2

  10. Beat 2 is amazing

  11. i expected way better but beat 2. I was not really even using the sample. both are kinda weak

  12. beat 2

  13. beat 2. i think Young Son’s version > than both tho

  14. yeah Young Son’s version is much better than both

  15. beat 2, no doubt…

  16. beat2

  17. Thanks guys.

  18. Beat 2

  19. Beat 1 aint my cup of tea, beat 2 sounded more professional and clean/crisp…

  20. beat2

  21. yo, no disrespect at all, but this is just like their last competition, very boring and uninspired on both sides!!!!

  22. Young Sons version was dope….both beats were boring.

  23. hey young son where can i download Tha Diner??

  24. actually never mind i found it on dj booth

  25. Beat 2. but reallly tho… pick better producers! those guys are extra basic with it…

  26. Beat 2.

  27. Beat 2. Young Son’s was on point though

  28. damn..beat 1 got bodied

for the record beat 2>>>>>>>beat 1

  29. Beat 2 easily. You keep waiting for beat 1 to do something, but it never does.

  30. Beat 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  31. J.bizness’ version shitted on both of those wack ass beats..the drums and samples on both beats WERE FKN GARBAGE…STEP YO BEATS UP U CORNBALL AS NIGGAZ!!!!!!

  32. Was expecting an actual competition. Beat 2 for sure.

  33. young son on the next challenge lol

  34. Young Son just looped up a remix of that song

  35. Beat one was laaaaame. Beat 2 was nice. LEt me Get in this.

    Are Oh Bee

  36. Beat 2 by a mile!

  37. Yeah, you’re exactly right bobsmitt. LOL. I didn’t say I produced the track by any means. I said:

“I have a mixtape joint out called “Tha Diner” over the original song. “

  38. beat 2 was better..

  39. I know this has nothing to do with the battle. But, I just heard the sample & thought about it being used on one of MJG’s songs “Whatever I Wanna Do”, check it out.

Now, I’m not sure about which beat to say here. I’ll let my vote do the talking

  40. god damn 2 is sick

  41. both kinda weak though

  42. Beat 2. And it’s probably NR. Because NR’s probably had this beat for a while. And Shake used the acca for Tom’s Diner as the flip because NR already had it in the bag.

  43. if i HAD to pick one (since they both were pretty weak), i’d have to go with beat #2.

    the end.

  44. beat two is hard……

  45. beat 2 is Clean

  46. Beat 1 is terrible…& Beat 2 is Average BUT he used a gang of other samples/sounds …I Thought The Point of this battle was to ((FLIP)) THE ACAPELLA SAMPLE…

MEKA, SHAKE, NR, JJ ALL LOST!!!

the “dopeboyz” seem to LOVE average basic music SMH

  47. ^^hey idiotbox. the objective of the battle was to flip the a capella and create a beat with it. stop acting like you know ANYTHING. especially when WE put on the battle and both contestants knew exactly what to do. take your L and jump off a cliff

  48. beat 2

  49. BEAT was so dope.

  50. Beat 2 won by default I think.

    Well my reasons are:

Beat 1 was kinda boring and weird. Vibe wasn’t to inspiring.

Beat 2 just sounded like a beat the producer had made previously with the competition in mind and tried to chop and squeeze the sample as much as possible to make the beat technically work.

    However, Beat 2 was better.

  51. Well the beat Yung Son used is the actual song just looped around. I remember that song when I was a youngin back when Casey Kasem was running the top 100 songs in the country.

  52. Beat 2* was soo dope.

  53. Yeah SHOWMAN3000, read above yo.

I never stated I made a beat from the song. I said I had a mixtape track over the original song.

  54. ^^^@Young Son
Nah nah it’s all good homie lol

I wasn’t saying that in regards to what you said. I was saying that in regards to others peoples comments.

The song is good too! I loved that song as a youngin!

  55. ^^^
Meaning your song was good and the sample (the song) I loved as a youngin!

  56. It’s all gravy yo. I’m hoping maybe Meka or Shake could peep it and post it. I got a mixtape coming out hosted by DJBOOTH on the 16th of this month and that joint is featured on it.

*Sidebar: Watching “The Five Heartbeats on TV One right now. Off the chains! “No Matter How It Gets” goes off!

  57. Beat #2
(I like how the submissions are anonymous)

  58. J. Bizness DOPE REMIX MAN!

  59. http://www.zshare.net/download/60871868b5de8cae/ day dreamin freestyle. what yall think

  60. PEACE…EACH BEAT WAS SIGNIFICANT IN ITS OWN WAY. THE IST BEAT I SEE MORE AS AN MCS TRACK..DOPE…SHOUT OUT TO JANSPORT J….BEAT 2 IS JAZZY..MELLOW..U GUYS THAT COMMENT ON THESE BATTLES SHOULD STEP UP UR GAME (SOCIAL SKILLS AS WELL) AND MAYBE UD BE IN THE COMPETITION..TO LEAVE NEGATIVE COMMENTS(ESPECIALLY WITHOUT A WAY FOR A PERSON TO RESPOND TO U) IS LAME AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL..AND I THOUGHT THAT WAS THE GOAL..TRY IT GUYS…SPREAD LOVE U MIGHT GET SOME BACK..THEY WORKED HARD EACH OF THEM…SO TO U SIDLINE HATERS AND CHEERLEADRES….GO STICK YOURSELF….AND NEXT TIME U COMMENT THINK TO URSELF…WHAT IF THIS WAS ME…WILL I EVER MAKE 2DOPEBOYZ.? PROLY NOT…OWELL U CAN HATE…LOL EAT THIS LOL

  61. yeah beat 2 is going to win no doubt about it.

dont wanna be harsh but beat 1 was borderline pathetic

  62. beat 2 without a doubt, kinda won by default tho..drums were mad boring on both tracks but the second one had interesting instrumentation!

  63. http://www.zshare.net/audio/584080796b575fb4/ <<< check me out ya’ll… I didn’t use THAT acapella, but I’m def tryna hop in the next one. Hit me on de twitter and let me know what you think.

  64. Beat 2 takes this one for me….wasn’t really feeling the first one in all honesty….Beat 2 is nice and smooth as hell, that’s why my votes on it

  65. May I ask when the official results coming? I don’t mean to sound abrasive, I was just hoping to find out whom each beat belongs to.

  66. Are the results ever coming?

  67. ^^maaaan, to be honest. i thought i posted it haha. ill wait til monday to announce the winner.

  68. If you’ve heard any of their music before, it’s obvious that #2 is NR & #1 is Jansport.

  69. Thanks, I really appreciate it and all the other good works.
