bushytop – yeah Last Exit is one of the most fucked up books I’ve ever read. I hear that they made a movie out of that too but I can’t find it anywhere. I’ve read pretty much everything Huber Selby has written and it’s all pretty dark and twisted but written so realistically that it doesn’t take a strong imagination to feel like the an account of actual events. he’s one of my favorites (pause)

real quick…guy that wrote the book is hubert selby, not shelby. and the scary isht is that he wrote the book in the late-fifties! such a fucked up story you don’t expect it to be old school.
“requiem” is great, but for a really good read peep out selby’s “last exit to brooklyn.” pretty much looks at life on the streets through a real-ass lens. lot of it is written in a stream of consciousness style and makes you feel like you’re actually walking down willoughby.
