I know Dr. Dre and Detox already had your eyes fixed on this post, but don’t get too excited. According to Billboard, the beat in the background is going to be on Detox.
It may just be a few seconds of music, but Dr. Dre fans will remember the new Dr. Pepper ad as the spot where they heard the first officially released beats from the much-delayed Detox.
The L.A.-based hip-hop producer appears in the last installment of an ad campaign entitled Trust Me, I’m A Doctor, and teases music from the long-awaited album, currently slated for a late 2009 release on Aftermath/Interscope. The commercial will begin airing on Monday, June 1.
I don’t really believe it. Who knows… and it’s not like we’ll find out until 2024. UPDATE: Just got to a computer and was able to listen to the track myself. It turns out to be one of the previously leaked T.I. reference tracks. So I was basically right. That shit ain’t gonna be on Detox haha.

and it’s for that reason I’m glad I downloaded the leak. & T.I. does his thing on it stupendously (pause).
The beat is bangin’ the way it is & I see no way he can improve on it, but if he can find a way to improve upon it, then we may be in for a treat. No way that’s gonna be a throwaway or end up on the cutting room floor.

I know the reference track leaked already, but that song has the potential to bring back Dre in a big way. I can already see it setting records on iTunes and Billboard. He can have Snoop or Nate Dogg do the hook, then Em and 50 do a remix for it. That shit will go global. Songs like this one do make albums regardless of being leaked b/c it still wasn’t the finished version. First single off Detox guaranteed.

If any 1 of these T.I. references should be on Detox it should be Topless. Shit is fucking insane. As for a featured verse I would have to say Shit Popped Off with someone else writing Dre’s verse or verses. The beat for Shit Popped Off is too laidback and smoothe for it to be left off the album.

can anybody please tell me what a reference track is? all i know is its another rapper on the beat from someone elses album…but why? im still not clear on this shit
@Dante: dr dre is a producer before a rapper…reference tracks are used so that a more experienced MC can rap dre’s verses and he can get an idea for the flow…when dre records his verses, he probably raps along with the TI (or whoever) track in order to get a good sounding flow.
