I know there are atleast one or two Ace Hood fans that check the site. But the main reason for this post is to point out how much buzz and fame the other 9 XXL freshmen have gained and how far behind Ace Hood really is. Seriously though, look at that list (Wale x B.o.B x Asher Roth x Charles Hamilton x Cory Gunz x Blu x Mickey Factz x Curren$y x KiD CuDi). Every single one of them has made a dent in hip hop. And whether you love/hate them, they have made an actual name for themselves. It’s hilarious how major labels still don’t get it. The power of the blogs are strong people!

Ace Hood is really behind. It’s Khaled’s fault. I heard Overtime a few weeks ago and that shit was fucking garbage.
Shady Universe said this on May 26th, 2009 at 12:00 pm
^^^as just a “club banger” type track, i think overtime’s a real nice song.
desert swordz said this on May 26th, 2009 at 12:03 pm
I don’t think he’s that far behind those other dudes if at all. Asher’s album didn’t do very impressive numbers, especially considering the buzz everyone felt he had leading up until it’s release and other than Blu who else has even released an album by which you can gauge their success? Charles Hamilton’s only buzz right now is for being mollywhopped by a Cheetarah. He’s pretty much a joke at this point and has been even before that shit popped up last week. The main thing of note is how Drake just came up and snatched all these dude’s little hype and is all of a sudden everywhere.

how is he behind if hes on his second album?
joshton peas said this on May 26th, 2009 at 12:09 pm
He can’t be too far behind, if he’s about to drop a second album, before half them cats haven’t even dropped one.

Ace Hood has been surprising me lately. First that “Overtime” song and now this one . I see a theme of like ambition/sports themed type songs that would make good sports soundtracks.
Jazzy did her thing and even Rick wasn’t bad.
Definitely feeling this.
Young Son said this on May 26th, 2009 at 12:18 pm
Only Ace and Ash Roth have physical albums that you can go to the store and buy and Ace is coming out with another how is he “Behind”?
Turner said this on May 26th, 2009 at 12:20 pm
this is why he is so far behind. i forgot he was in the freshmen class. i didnt know he dropped an album already. it had absolutely no buzz around it? asher didnt do the bestest numbers in the world, but he did impressive numbers, very impressive for a new artist in todays climate especially.
ace hood was getting the biggest promo i feel like, because i was seeing him on bet and what not. yet, the other 9 freshmen have much more personality through their music and will have a true cult following in the future (especially “annoying” charles)
two albums in and i cant name one single. i dont know anyone who has one his songs on their ipod. yet i know mass people who are bumping blu, wale, mickey, cudi, asher, charles (probably because i quote them so much and i got people on my campus interested in their originality)…
drake did snatch up a lot of shine though. cudi leads the 10 ten. drake has the game on lock though as far as new comers go (it might be because i live in ohio though)

Me’s was thinking about this track a couple days ago.
That seems like a cool mixture of people. I like Hood & Ross and Jazmine is just, one of the best singers I’ve heard, ever.
So yeah, Dope.
Thanks Shakey.

You may be right, but all Ace has to do is drop a sappy love song featuring Ne-Yo and it’s over.
I hate Ace Hood btw.

jakefromthebean said this on May 26th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
every single one of them has NOT made a dent in hip hop. wale is fire, asher is underrated by everyone who hasn’t bothered to spin that album, chamilton is mad original, blu is on pace to be the best mc ever (im not exaggerating), and cudi is fresh. BUT b.o.b. clings to mainstream southern style, gunz has potential but yet to show it, ditto on factz, and curren$y aint shit. and word to that last sentence, BLOG > RIAA.
Grape Burton said this on May 26th, 2009 at 1:57 pm
Cudi got best backing, Kanye West, Drake has Lil Wayne, still all about who you know…I knew drake because of his lil wayne callabs then heard his mixtape which was fantastic! knew cudi from 808′s then heard his shit also!
MistahZee said this on May 26th, 2009 at 2:09 pm
Wale- dope, but all he has to his name are 2 singles (nike boots and that song with lady gaga)
B.o.B- dope as well, but wheres the album?
Asher Roth- good, but overrated, at least he has a 100k+ album out
Charles Hamilton- what has he done besides make up a religion (super sonic philosophy) and get punched by a girl?
Cory Gunz- wish more people knew him, but they dont
Blu- who?
Mickey Factz- same as above
Curren$y- once again, outside of 2DB, nobody knows him
KiD CuDi- most successful so far (minus lack of album), but lets face it, he’s got kanye
bottom line: ace hood, while not that good, actually has an album to his name
youknow said this on May 26th, 2009 at 2:34 pm
all of these artist have music that you can listen to. which ones have the most music that you are listening to? better yet, if there was a show in your town who would you more likely go see ace hood or wale?… i know who you are going to say if you keep it real.
[i was saying maybe i think cudi is leading the top 10 because i have an ohio bias, not drake. and i know cudi really is doing his thing with the kanye support, it was just to throw something out there because i try to stay as even footed as possible and spit what i know to be the truth.
Truth said this on May 26th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
youknow, you don’t know shit. asher isnt overrated, i love college is not a reflection of all of his music. and how the fuck do you not know blu? get up off your ass and download below the heavens.
am i the only one with any love for chamilton? sure hes weird, and more than half his songs are absolute shit, but he goes with the lil wayne strategy: if you make a ton of tracks, some of them are gonna be good if you have any talent. brooklyn girls, twitter 16, lemme know, stutter, the n word, DSW, jesus for a day, and my word are his best tracks. bump them before you say another word on the man.
Grape said this on May 26th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
ace hood is geting real big all his singles ben big cash flow ride overtime now this champion rec wit jasmin is fucking huge ace the future ace and drake
mike said this on May 26th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
Ace Hood’s first album went hard, IMO. maybe cause i reside on the bottom of the map though.
haven’t heard anything off the new album… but i’m fairly confident that it’ll jam.
oh, and nobody i know is checkin’ for Blu, Charles, or Peter’s son. regional thing, maybe?
Antone said this on May 26th, 2009 at 3:35 pm
why wasn’t drake on the xxl cover
bob said this on May 26th, 2009 at 3:37 pm
@ grape
yea, i really haven’t listened to much of blu (except that shit with snoop), but i wasnt feeling it.
i have asher’s cd (yea, i bought it, WHICH IS THE ONLY WAY TO SUPPORT AN ARTIST, fuck all yall “fans” that never buy shit) and THAT is why i think he is overrated, but not bad.
i’ve heard all the Charles songs you mentioned, and i still think that he is wack.
brooklyn girls < i love college < almost any rap song
youknow said this on May 26th, 2009 at 3:40 pm
how can you be “behind” if you are on your second MAJOR released album? SMH. Asher Roth is big on blogs, but not in the actual streetz tho. And i don’t mean streetz in a hood way. Ace Hood is prolly doing the best out of all of them. I’m from and reside in TX and truthfully i like the other freshmen, but none of them are KNOWN at all down here. ACE HOOD is tho. So he mite be “behind” in the “BLOGGER world”, but not in the real world.

honestly the problem is shake is naive to the fact that most of the people that listen to hip hop are not on these blogs…ace is the one they DID know from that group cuz he was on bet and the radio……and nobody has made an dent…yah they dope…but sellin an 100k record is hardly anythin…nobody really knows any of these guys…and really to say ace is behind…seems like he is at the same pace he just isnt your cup of tea so you hate….smh…dude can really flow too
im wit ya girl as we speak said this on May 26th, 2009 at 9:15 pm
…and now that i think about it…all these guys are most likely locked down to their region…minus asher and cudi(he does have the biggest hit)

Wale-Def Ahead of Ace
B.o.B-Not ahead of Ace
Asher Roth-Don’t see the hype in this guy. But he def should be ahead of Ace Hood. Marketable white guy who had a MTV type hit.
Charles Hamilton-LMAO
Cory Gunz-Should be ahead of ACE…but isn’t. Plus he signed to Young Money which is like signing to Bloodline Records..might as well not even have a deal. His biggest claim to fame is murdering Wayne on A Millie and didn’t even get put on the official version…he lost and will continue to lose.(See Currency)
Blu-LMAO
Mickey Factz-Is nice…but c’mon. His biggest accomplishment was Incredible…and I dont think most people even knew that was his joint.
Curren$y-AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
KiD CuDi-I seriously cant stand that song…but he’s got cosigners…a broke ass nigga can get a crib with cosigners..he got a hit.
Cash Flow was the shit.
PimpstarP said this on May 27th, 2009 at 1:41 am
This song is acehoods lane. he should perfect making these type of energetic fervorous songs with that ak47 flow he got. Drake is proving to be the hardest going in right now . Blus below the heavens was great. Theres also a Rapper coming in the game named Bravo Zulu and he is a straight beast with a unique story 5flows and undeniable Star prescence. he got the class of “10″
