Shake im shocked…Soundtrack to the Summer ‘09……. This Mixtape is pretty whack cause every song on there i downloaded from here or was on a old mixtape(Dj U & H,Jadakiss,Hottest in the hood). Garbage artwork too… all of the art work sucks, all of it. That Ransom one is ok but the rest are not.
Im only criticizing the artwork cause ima graphic designer my self
the term “graphic designer” is thrown around like “classic” these days. i’ve gotta think of a new way to describe my talent. no shots.
Dre…please shut it up. The artwork for ALL of these serve the purpose of the mixtape. I know because I LIVE the life of a graphic artist/photographer/Mass Comm graduate. All of these artworks fit the title of the album, have the proper color schemes, etc. The only one I can see you hating on for real is Behind The Scenes, because it has a lot going on graphic design wise. But the best artwork on here is Flyover Land. It has the perfect use of space and non-intruding text. So stop fronting like you a “graphic designer.” Matter fact, that’s not even the RIGHT term. The correct term is “graphic artist.” Step ya game up.

i speak my mind about any and everyone. my actual friends know me for that. never cupcaking shit. i tell it how it is. i’m getting tired of people discovering photoshop and automatically thinking they are a graphic designer. yay… you can copy and paste and move layers around! put in some work before claiming shit, that’s all i’m saying.

I get what you sayin truly shake, but im not the novice artist that you think i am. trust me i have took the worst and best criticism that has made me better. I have been designin for a solid 3 years and i haven’t reached my peak, but im at that point where i can say “Damn im good” and peeps wont disagree not because they feel pity but because im that good at what i do.

i just went thru ur entire blog. ur work is sub par at best. looks like some of the stuff from the audio students taking the Beginning Photoshop class at the Art Institute. if thats your work after 3 years… find another hobby. im a media arts/animation student at AI of Vegas [shouts shake] and i’ve seen WAAAAAY better work from the 1st and 2nd qrt students.

im 19… started Photoshopin’ in summer of ’07 after i graduated. i have taken ONE class. Digital Imaging at AI of Vegas. that was 6 months ago. im no grown ass man. im no pro. hell im not even in the graphic design program. but i see enough blow ur mind work everyday to tell you that ur stuff does NOT show 3 years of experience- self-taught or otherwise.
if ur serious about this whole “graphic design” thing, then stop knockin work that is better than yours and step YOUR game up. just cuz mixtape art work nowadays isnt ur thing doesnt mean its whack. from a technical stand point:

Dre…all I’m saying is that you are criticizing stuff and you have no claim behind it. You say it sucks, which shows you are NOT a graphic artist, as they know how to adequately use something called “space.” On most of the covers, the space is used perfect, there is non-intruding text, etc. I could go on. You said they are whack and did not name ANYTHING that proves or shows why they are whack.
And I wasn’t throwing my degree in your face. I’m simply saying that I know the game like the back of my hand. And I agree with Shake…your work is sub-par. Your best work was prob that Myspace thing you did. What you need to do is go where a lot of graphic artists post, gain knowledge from them, and go from there. Some of your work has too much going on. While it looks hot to some, it takes away from the PURPOSE of the artwork.
