The “Charlie Rose” of Hip-Hop, Emilio Sparks, has Skyzoo in studio as his guest this week. Skyzoo discusses his thoughts on why he was not apart of the XXL Freshmen 10 cover. Sky talks about his new mix-tape The Power of Words and his debut album The Salvation.
One thing I learned after kicking it with Sky this past weekend is that dude enjoys his spinning tops.
Let me start by saying I’m a big fan of Naledge and Skyzoo. I don’t know why this XXL cover is still an issue. I’ve been rocking with Sky and Naledge since ’06 and that’s exactly my point. These cats aren’t necessarily freshmen. Sky has done a EP with 9th in 06, and Naledge is on his Junior album with Kidz In The Hall. I don’t understand why this is even an issue. Sure, i’d like to see one of them over one of the other artist on the cover *cough, Ace Hood, cough* But goddamn. And these ain’t shots to Sky or Naledge at ALL. I’ve even met Sky at RTB last year. But yo, niggas bringing up them not being on the cover of XXL is just silly to me. The same argument can be made for Blu actually being ON there. He had two (maybe 3) albums out at the time.

I’m thinking that name that Skyzoo wouldn’t give out at the end is Dilla. He was close with Dilla, and he was rattling off producers, so I’m assuming he’s got an unreleased Dilla track. The production is already dope with 9th, premo, illmind, best kept secret. I’d love to hear Skyzoo on a black milk beat.
Salvation, coming this summer, can’t wait for that shit. That’ll be the first album I purchase in about 3 years

Ive been saying the same thing J.S has been saying Skys been putting out mixtapes since 04 he aint a freshmen Blu has been in the game for awhile but really put his music out in 06 and then dropped his album 07. got to meet sky at RTB to nicest dude cant wait for The Salvation Peace!!

ya buggin callin this Emilio Sparks guy the Charlie Rose of hip hop…fuck outta here. thats disrespect he needs to atleast have a tv show on a network..he only interviews these new hipster rappers. i saw him interview Cam’rpm and he got sonned.
